Task 2:

Graph topic: temperature of Hokkaido and Okinawa from 6/4~6/9, 612~6/16

I predict that the temperature of Hokkaido will be significantly higher than Okinawa due to the

geographic location. I predict that the average temperature of both locations will not have

significant changes throughout the few days, I should only be able to observe the minor

changes of temperature. An obvious trend in change in temperature can only be shown when

observing a long period of time. Therefore, the line graph should be going in nearly a straight

line.

The temperature in Japan of Hokkaido and Okinawa:

After finishing the graph, I realized that even the changes in values (temperature) are

minor, but it still causes a great difference in the dots, making the line not straight but

ups and downs. My hypothesis was indeed correct since both graphs indicate that the

average temperature of Hokkaido was higher than Okinawa’s. As expected, there’s no

significant changes in temperature throughout the following days, the only factor that

might cause temperature to change drastically within a few days may only be caused by

natural disasters or sudden accidents. For example, wildfires or typhoons. From the

graph, I learned that it is not easy to see a trend of something within a short period of

time, a pattern may be easier to spot after a longer period of observations and

recordings.
