    Poetry terms notes sheet

    Objectives

    Students will be able to recognize the differences between poetry and prose

    Assessment

    Daily Grammar

    Lesson Procedure

     Wait for students to complete daily grammar, then have one complete the focus on the board (5)
     Pass out guided notes for the poetic devices PowerPoint (5)
     Go through the slides, giving/teaching the students about poetic devices (30)
     Have students think about and write down what they consider their definition of poetry to be (2)
     Go over the real definition and then make a t-chart on the board of differences between prose and poetry
    (10)
     Homework: bring in a typed or written copy of school-appropriate lyrics for the next day
