Lent season is the time we set aside each year to remember the love of God that

he poured out for all humanity. During lent, I properly observe prayer by attending
mass, reflecting as well as meditating on the passion of death of our Lord Jesus Christ.
During lent, me and my family always join the Visita Iglesia. We visit different churches
in different places and at the same time we pray profoundly and deeply. I also
participate in night processions where we carry the statues of saints, along with the
people with lighted candles.

Furthermore, I observe repentance during Lent by putting ashes on my fore

head during Ash Wednesday, the ashes are meant as a reminder of my mortality and
sinfulness. During this season, me and my family are attending the Pabasa (reading of
the life of Jesus) and we also listen and watch the Seven Last Words of Christ on our
television. For us, we find it as a way of cleansing our souls as we relate ourselves in
every person who are speaking. It also reminds us of how Jesus suffered on the cross
to save all humanity. In addition, I was also encouraged to confess my sins with the
priest for my conversion.

I observe fasting and abstinence by refraining from eating meat during Fridays of
Lent. Similarly, I limit my intake of foods and drink consumption. I practice fasting and
abstinence during lent because I believe that it is a form of prayer and discipline.
Likewise, I also practice almsgiving and sharing during lent by doing the acts of love
and works of mercy in my community, schools, relatives, friends and family. We eat
together, pray, and thank God for all the blessings that we have received and for saving
all humanity. For me, Lent season reminds us of God’s unconditional love for all man
kind, so we must love anther as God loves us.
