Simon the Zealot

-he was one of the original disciples of Jesus.

- he was rigid in obeying the Jewish and Canaanite law.

- Simon was popularly known as the zealot to differentiate him from Simon Peter.

- He was the brother of James the Less and relative of Jesus.


- His image portrayed often by a flame around his head which represent his presence during
Pentecost and holding an image of Jesus.
- According to the biblical scholars he was the son of Clopas and Mary, the cousin of the Blessed
Virgin Mary.
- He was the one who asked Jesus during Last Supper why he would not let Himself be seen after
the Resurrection.
- Patron saint for desperate causes and lost causes.
