BAPTISM OF THE LORD

According to the Third Roman Missal, when the solemnity of the Epiphany occurs on Sunday,
January 7 or 8, the feast of the Baptism is celebrated on the following day, Monday.

This year, the feast of the Baptism of the Lord is on January 9, 2023. It is the last day of the
Christmas Season.

It remembers the Lord’s second manifestation on His Baptism in the River Jordan, wherein He
went to the river to sanctify its water and give them the power to beget sons of God.

Christ, Himself does not need Baptism, for He is sinless and impeccable, but He emphasized the
power of true Baptism, which will take away all the sins of the world.

The Father proclaimed that He is the “Beloved Son”, and we become His adopted sons and daughters in
the power of our baptism.
