For many years, scientists have been arguing about global warming.

While they don’t agree all about

what this might mean for Planet Earth, many think it is on going – and that we can do something
about it. We need a few more years to gather facts before eveyone say for sure. But people need to
start now to do things to stop it.
So, what is global warming ? Global warming is the long-term warming of the planet’s overall
temperature. Though this warming trend has been going on for a long time, its pace has significantly
increased in the last hundred years due to the burning of fossil fuels. As the human population has
increased, so has the volume of fossil fuels burned. Fossil fuels include coal, oil, and natural gas, and
burning them causes what is known as the “greenhouse effect” in Earth’s atmosphere.
There are many types of gases in our atmosphere. Some of them absorb the heat from the sun and
control our climate. “ Greenhouse gases “ are those that hold the heat around the planet surface. When
we increase the level of gases, we can upset the balance. As long as we continue to emit greenhouse
effect, temperature continue to rise. For example, China emits more CO2 than any other country,
which is followed by the US and the EU member states. But, even if we now cut greenhouse gas,
scientists say the effects will countinue.
As more CO2 released into the atmosphere, take something in the gas by the ocean increases, causing
the warter polluted – water become more acidic. This could pose major problem for coral reefs.
Global warming will cause further changes that are likely create further heating. Evidence shows the
change in the global surface temperature between 1850 and the end of 21st century is likely to be
greater than 1,5’C, most simulation suggest. The WMO says that if the current warming trend
continues, temperature could rise 3-5’C by the end of century. Temperature rises of 2’C had long been
regarded as the gateway to dangerous warming.
Sea level could rise. Ice sheets could melt and add to the water level. Many places near the coast
would be in danger of flooding. If the climate change is to large and too fast. Some plants and animals
could really suffer. They could even die out. Weather could become more violent and severe. In some
places there would be more forest fires. But in other areas there would be more rain and snow, storm
and floods.

Rising sea levels. Raging storms. Searing heat. Ferocious fires. Severe drought. Punishing floods.
The effects of climate change are already threatening our health, our communities, our economy, our
security, and our children’s future. What can you do? A whole lot, as it turns out. Americans, on
average, produce 21 tons of carbon a year, about four times the global average. Personal action is, of
course, no substitute for meaningful government policies. We still must limit carbon pollution and
aggressively move away from dirty fossil fuels toward cleaner power.

First, we should keep fossil fuels in the ground because the more that are extracted and burned, the
worse climate change will get. Second, invest in renewable energy - changing our main energy
sources to clean and renewable energy like solar, wind, wave, tidal and geothermal power. Then, we
can use public transports instead of some personal vehicles powered by fossil fuels. Moreover,
protect the oceans and forests, restore nature ( planting trees ), reduce plastic can reduce global
warming.

To conclude, although global warming is a serious issue, there are steps that governments and
individuals can take to reduce its effects. If we are to save our planet, it is important that this is treated
as a priority for all concerned.
