What are the examples of Chinese folk songs?

What are the musical elements found in the folk song Mo Li hua?
It is sung in a nasal voice in moderate tempo and range. The texture is homophonic and it uses syllabic phrasing.

What are the examples of instrumental pieces in Chinese music?

What are the traditional Chinese musical instruments?


The modern Chinese instruments are categorized based on the structure and the sounds created. The four section
of Chinese classic orchestra are: the bowed strings, the plucked strings, the winds, and the percussion
instruments.

What are the functions and cultural characteristics of Chinese musical compositions?
Chinese compositions were mainly part of their religious rites and ceremonies, like salvations and
memorial rituals held in courts, temples, and monasteries. Based on Confucian philosophy, they believed that
“Music can be used as a means to political and spiritual enlightenment” (Confucius.)

Japanese music was influenced by the court music of China. As years went by, it was reshaped into distinctive
styles of expressions from the adoption of the instruments to the application of theory and was based on the five-
tone scale or pentatonic scale.
