Company Profile

Mine Elect has been trading in Zimbabwe for more than 50 years and is part of the Industrial, Mining
and Farming (IMF) group of companies. Mine Elect is an Electrical Engineering biased company that
employs Electrical Engineers, Instrumentation Technicians, Artisans and Sales Representatives.

Mine-Elect holds Distributorship and Systems Integrator agreements with reputable international
companies who are experts in their areas. To uphold these agreements, Mine Elect employs
technically competent staff, which is subjected to regular updates on technological developments in
the industry. Engineers and technicians with experience in the fields of LV/HV motor control,
distribution, power measurement and management, automation, SCADA, Instrumentation and
protection schemes, are available at all times.

The company is divided into the following three divisions: Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing.

Sales

This department has a staff compliment that is knowledgeable enough to handle the standard type
products, such as contactors, overloads, push buttons, indicator lights, terminals, signalling
equipment for industry and mining, inductive and capacitive proximity
sensors, limit switches and surge protection
equipment for standard applications. We have
a highly energetic team of sales
representatives who know their client base
and travel extensively, ensuring that those customers who are out on
a limb are being visited regularly.

Over the years Mine-Elect has gathered information and monitored

trends so as to ensure that the clients needs, are addressed by what is
held in stock. The successful achievement of this objective is enhanced by the
efficient procurement of stock. Stock replacement is achieved with minimal lead
times.

 Engineering

This department is sub divided into two divisions, namely Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation
and Control Engineering.

Electrical Engineering

Mine Elect employs a team of highly qualified competent professionals who carry out designs, audits
and systems integration of electrical engineering projects (LV and MV). Our engineers are involved
from conception to commissioning of projects and are also involved in after commissioning service
and maintenance. Our products are:

 Lighting
 Surge protection

Instrumentation and Control Engineering

Mine elect also provides our clients with a wide range of Instrumentation and control solutions
which include the following:

 Field instruments and general sensors

 Programmable logic and automation controllers
 Distributed I/O
 Industrial networks
 Telemetry, Fieldbus gateways and Ethernet modems
 Machine, plant and process automation
 SCADA
 Manufacturing

Mine Elect builds and assembles electrical panels from our workshops for basic conventional
starters, MCCs and distribution boards. Our electrical panels are built from world renowned
enclosures and switch gear. We have partnerships with suppliers of Elsteel and Eldon internationally
approved wall mount, free standing and modular fully type tested enclosures and bus bar systems.
Our panels are custom built to suite the requirements of our various clients.

Below is a 2MVA distribution board ready for dispatch to the client.

Technical Support

We offer around the clock technical support to our clients during both the commissioning and
running phase of the plant to ensure that we reduce production losses due to downtime for our
clients. We have also entered into Service Level Agreements with some of our key clients as a way of
formalising and monitoring our service delivery.

Staff Continual Professional Development

We always make sure that our staff is always up to date with the latest technologies of the products
we offer and new ones. We are always in a quest to find new and better solutions for our clients
through research, attending seminars and workshops. We also subscribe to engineering magazines
that help us keep up to date with what is happening in the industry. Our technical staff is
encouraged to join professional organisations like the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (ZIE).

Training and Internship

We offer training to professionals in industry and internship to students from our technical colleges
and universities.

Training: We offer training for basic switchgear and instrumentation, drives technology and motor
control, PLC programming and SCADA development. This training can either be done on our
premises or the client’s premises. We also build customised training equipment for our clients to suit
their applications.

Internship: As a way of preparing more engineers and technicians for the future of our country and
also giving back to the community where these engineers come from, we offer a one year long
internship program every year, whereby we heavily invest in these students by involving them in real
life industrial projects. This helps in that by the time they leave college they are competent, well
equipped and ready to offer solutions to industrial challenges.
