QUICK NOTES
In order to prepare well for the Statistics questions in SAT Math, make sure you
understand the following:
• The meanings of and how to find Mean, Median, Range, Mode for a given data set and
deduce changes to these parameters with a change in data point(s).
• The relationship between Mean & Median on graph (if the graph leans toward the left =>
median<mean; if the right => median>mean; if symmetrical => bell curve => median
=mean
• The concept of standard deviation & the shape of graph/distribution with regard to
Standard Deviation: the more concentrated the graph/distribution the smaller the SD, the
more spread out the distribution of data, the bigger the SD.
• Parameters used for data inference: Margin of error, confidence level
• Procedure of Scientific Method: hypothesis => real population => sample => control
group => collect data => draw conclusion
• The difference between Correlation & Causation.
• Understand how to test causal relationship: create control group to test hypothesis.
