Personal statement:
An essay that explains your personal experience
and its relevance to the intended field of study
Personal statement:
• Relate your personal experience (i.e. things you grew up with) to the field that you’ve
been focusing on
• Pick an event that inspired you to pick your specific field of study
• Connect the dots between your relevant experiences that lead to your decision to study
further on the intended major
• State the reason(s) why you choose that particular university
• Future goals
Also, learn to write systematically!
i.e. be clear on your paragraph (main idea and
supporting sentences)
