7 Planning

At project initiation the team will hold a planning session with Project Management,
Engineering, Construction and Procurement to establish an action plan on all the points listed
below.

• Determine what buildings are to be modularized;

• Determine the fabrication yard location. Consider limiting the bidders list to those in
suitable inshore locations as an open sea route will increase the cost;
• Develop a module transport plan;
• Determine details of road transporters, cranes and shipping. Survey the route to identify
external limitations on size and weight;
• Develop a schedule to determine if bulk steel needs to be ordered separately or can be
ordered by the fabricator.
Designers shall consider the maximum transport envelope size when determining module
sizes. In addition to this, designers shall also consider the installation time when designing
module sections and connections, opting for low cost quick installation designs.

8 Delivery, storage and installation

Delivery, storage and installation of modular buildings and accessories shall be according to
the project specifications and criteria.

Likewise, supplier’s recommendations and specifications that are not considered in the
aforementioned documents shall be incorporated.
