Table 3: Documentation
The DVB subtitles are displayed late when compared to the corresponding
audio, also some subtitle regions remain on screen longer than they should.
5.3.1 Software
Misc: Binary code image size is close to maximum. The binary code
image for release 3.0.2 is about 3.4Mbyte. The max allowed space for
each image is 3.8Mbyte, so it won't be long before we run out of space.
Video: OSD Splats seen on video. This has not been re-created.
Video: Video failure has been seen on 3 units in long term test when
tested with encoders in mega low delay mode. The units recovered when
re-booted.
Video: Spurious OSD blocks are sometimes seen when changing default
video standard.
Video: Video decode has been seen to fail on one unit on power up
following restore factory defaults.
Video: When the input is removed from a unit, the output defaults to
either black or freeze frame (dependent on user setup). If the input had
teletext subtitles, the teletext subtitles remain for about 10 secs and then
vanish.
Video/SDI: The SDI output does not handle multiple VBI types in the
same way as the composite output. On the composite output, if the
teletext is enabled and then another VBI service is enabled (eg VITS on
17 and 18), the teletext will be moved to the nearest free line. On the SDI
output, the teletext will overwrite the other VBI services.
Video/VITS: VITS lines are not always removed when the VITS mode is
changed. This state can be corrected by putting the unit in the required
VITS mode and repowering the unit.
Video/Audio: Video and audio can take a long time to 'settle down' after
service change
Audio: Audio 2 lipsync has not been implemented yet. This means that
Audio 2 is not DOLBY compliant.
Audio: Audio Restart fails after a power cycle when decoding 15Mbits LD
video.
Audio: Audio 1 lip sync is sometimes out by more than 1 frame when
tested with encoders in very low or mega low delay mode.
Audio: Audio distortion has sometimes been seen when the unit switches
between 625 and 525 services
Audio: Audios have been seen to mute when decoding particular off-air
streams.
VBI: VBI line 22 sometimes shows un-initialised data after power cycle.
NB: Problem was fixed in release v2.0.0 but has been since been re-
introduced.
VBI: Pedestal appears on some VBI lines. This is not user controllable
and affects the composite output only.
CA: Mixed BISS scrambled and clear components within a service are not
handled correctly by the TT1222. e.g. services with scrambled video and
clear audio.
CA: CA status change message is seen a lot on the debug terminal and
needs investigating.
ASI: ASI input does not support bitrates below 3.7 Mbits.
SDI: SDI closed captions are not decoded by some Sony monitors.
Remote: There is no EbNo value for the QPSK input available on the
TT1222 and the remote command will return an invalid value.
NB: This bug will not be fixed. Serial TDC was only a stop gap until TDC
over Ethernet (nCompass Control) was available. EbNo is not available
on the TT1222 and the web pages will not show it.
RS232: Low speed data RS232 buffer handling is incorrect. The problem
is also present on TT1220.
RS232: Only the Format #2 Low speed data profile was found to work. TS
Packets, Piped, Streamed, and PES Payload did not function with the
E5710 data stream. Only the Binary output format was found to work.
Selection of HEX caused incorrect operation.
RS232 / BISS: RS232 data works with DVB format encoded and IRD set
to ‘Streamed’ or ‘PES Payload’. However, the latter 2 modes have been
seen to fail when was BISS used and no alarm was indicated. Audio 2
was also seen to fail without giving an alarm indication.
Misc: If the front panel is set to show the ‘Audio 1 PTS usage’ menu item
and a debug hyper terminal session is being used, an error message may
be seen on the debug window. The message reports that the menu string
is too long.
VBI: Teletext and closed captions are not always frame accurate and can
be delayed by a frame or two. This usually occurs after changing video
coding modes or delay modes on the source encoder.
Misc: VIB error message (error with non volatile parameter handling) is
now seen on the debug terminal during bootup.
Misc: The boot code fails to swap to the latest downloaded application on
first re-power; a subsequent re-power will correct the problem.
Misc: Flash programming tool flashprog.lku corrupts flash when using the
doit batch file.
Front Panel: Licensable features cannot be enabled using the unit’s front
panel. Currently a batch file must be used to enable a feature.
Misc: The Russian Secam bottle waveforms have some distortion at the
start.
Audio: Audio 2 is not always available on power up. This has only been
seen on the first power up after an upgrade.
VBI: 608 formatted closed caption data with 708 data attached is not
handled by TT1222.
SECAM: Teletext menu items are removed from the front panel menus
when in SECAM mode. This should only happen in Russian SECAM
mode.
CA: Irdeto CAM Modules (part numbers: 604681 Rev 1.0 and 904505
Rev 1.1) cause packet errors on the transport stream bus.
MPE: MPE is not currently supported on TT1222 units with ASI input.
Video judders when Ethernet data is present on ASI input 1222s.
CA: MPE and RS232 data not decrypted from BISS1 encrypted service.
CA: When input to modulator feeding IRD is unplugged and then re-
plugged during BISS descrambling test, Audio 1 intermittently failed.
IP OUT: There is no output from the IP ports when the TT1222 has an
ASI input and the transport stream input is 204 packet size.
XPO: Trying to access the Web Browser before unit initialisation has
finished sometimes causes the unit to reset.
Upgrade: Occasionally ftp upgrade does not work. Some units were seen
to reset when an ftp upgrade was attempted. Seen on versions 6.0.6 and
6.1.0.
Misc: Some units on soak test with 6.1.0 beta code, connected to an nCC
system, have been seen to reset after a number of days.
IP OUT: The ‘Length Recovery Field’ in the FEC Header produced by the
IP out card is incorrect.
IP OUT: Unit does not alarm in IP out service filter mode when CBR rate
is too low.
IP OUT: Variable Bit Rate mode (VBR) is not available when service filter
mode is selected on the IP out Card.
VBI: WSS is absent on line analogue 23 and present on SDI line 23 when
the unit is configured for WSS (no VBI) mode.
Alarm: Alarm masks set on the front panel do not affect alarm masking on
the web interface.
MSD: The TT1222 can handle a single service changing from clear to
scrambled with minimal disruption. However, the more services entered
for descrambling that simultaneously change from clear to scrambled, the
longer the possible disruption at the output of the TT1222. These
disruptions may also be seen when monitoring the decoded service that
the TT1222 is descrambling. Navigation of the front panel may also
momentarily freeze.
IP OUT: When the Service Filter Mode is enabled, it has been reported
that jitter is introduced to the output of the service selected for filtering.
Ensuring that the service being decoded by the receiver is the same as
the service being filtered by the IP Output Module resolves the jitter
problem.
Enabling the “Track Audio 1” feature did not have the desired behaviour. The
Audio 2 selection did not pick up the second audio component but instead
duplicated the Audio 1 selection. Thus both audio outputs were the same.
The TT1222 audio selection is based primarily on language and then on audio
type (Pref. Format) i.e. Musicam or AC-3. An audio selection list is generated
internally ranked according to these settings.
Disabled Audio PID selection list is ranked Audio PID selection list is ranked
according to audio 1 language and according to audio 2 language and
audio 1 Pref. Format configuration. audio 2 Pref. Format configuration.
Audio components derived from If the PID from the first list item
PMT for the TV Service ID matches the audio 1 selection,
then the second list item is used.
Enabled Audio PID selection list is ranked Audio PID selection list is ranked
according to audio 1 language and according to audio 2 language and
audio 1 Pref. Format configuration. audio 2 Pref. Format configuration.
Audio components derived from If the PID from the first list item
PMT for the TV Service ID matches the audio 1 selection,
then the second list item is used.
Under Director Control, you cannot set the Audio 2 Service ID but this will
track the TV Service ID if Track Audio 1 Mode is enabled. Also, you cannot
set the Audio Pref. Format under Director Control, so these would have to be
preconfigured during commission.
The BISS keys and IDs can now be configured via the XML configuration file
that is downloaded to the IRD in the web browser interface. The BISS keys
can not be extracted from the IRD when saving the XML configuration file.
The Alarm Relay was traditionally only configurable via the front panel and if
active, this will control relay at the back of the TT1222 and also the LED state
on the front of the TT1222. New functionality has been added so that the
Alarm Relay can now be configured via the web browser interface. To avoid
confusion between the Alarm Relay and the Alarm Filters that already exist in
the web browser interface, a dedicated tab has been added called “Alarm
Relay”.
The Alarm Fitlers have only ever been configured via the web browser. The
Alarm Filters control when SNMP Traps are sent if an alarm becomes active
and what is reported on the “Status” tab of the web browser interface. The
Alarm Filters do not influence the relay state or the front panel LED state.
A customer experienced a problem where the video output would fail. This
was as a result of the second audio decoder locking up and constant polling to
this device whilst in this failed state had the knock on effect of breaking the
video output. A watchdog has been put in place to reset the audio decoder
once this state has been detected.
The TT1222 was unable to detect the CAM card from SmardTV due to the
large buffer size and failed in the buffer negotiation stage. If the buffer size is
more than the maximum then the Maximum value is used as a buffer size.
Also, due to the special character in the CAM name, some versions of internet
explorer were not able to display the CA menu page at all, some display part
of the name. The check is added for the special character and replaced with
the question mark.
The TT1222 was unable to remember the device name after the reboot. This
got broken in the release 7.1.9 while adding the changes for Brand migration.
The TT1222 is unable to update the audio2 status to fail when audio 2 PID is
listed in the PMT but there is no content. The CS493122 audio decoder chip
fails to report the loss of audio in this situation and receiver does not raise any
alarm.
The software now checks the PTS values read by the audio decoder chip and
if there is no difference between the two consecutive values, it makes the
audios 2 status fail, raising the alarm.
The TT1222 fails to descramble when using a particular make of CAM. This
was due to a buffer size negotiation failure and timed out after the CAM is
reset during initialisation. The TT1222 driver now has an extended time out to
allow the CAM more time to initialise and communicate with the TT1222.
11 Changes in 7.1.9
NOTE 1: Director 5 does not support descrambling across more than one service.
NOTE 2: The correction of the negative spike for Russian Secam required disabling SDI syncs, this
means this version does not support SDI in Russian Secam Mode.
NOTE 3: Teletext is now supported on TT1222 receivers supporting Russian SECAM from version
7.0.1. Teletext is ENALBED by default and should be DISABLED where Teletext is not desired or
the incoming transport stream contains Teletext on lines that will clash with the bottle waveforms.
DVB Subtitles flash up and clear faster then expected. A customer provided a
transport stream recording containing a section of subtitles that had a timing
issue which has been resolved by optimising the subtitle processing.
12 Changes in 7.1.7
NOTE 1: Director 5 does not support descrambling across more than one service.
When decoding MUSICAM audio, there would be no audio from the Digital
Output of Audio 2. This defect was introduced in the 7.1.6 release after
addressing defect 2064. This has now been fixed.
13 Changes in 7.1.6
NOTE 1: Director 5 does not support descrambling across more than one service.
Norwegian customer noticed that when the TT1222 is configured to use its
inbuilt subtitle decoder that certain characters were incorrect or in the wrong
place on the line. This issue has now been addressed.
Previously the fault condition occurred when service filtering was enabled and
the unit was descrambling. Although the section length was correct the output
stream had an additional number of extra erroneous bytes which invalidated
the CRC.
It should be noted that these errors were not evident when the unit was set to
scramble even with service filtering enabled.
When using AC3 audio on Audio 2, setting the output from Linear to AC3 had
no effect on Bit 1 of the channel status information (a value of 0 indicates this
is linear audio PCM data. A value of 1 indicates other data). This has now
been resolved.
14 Changes in 7.1.5
NOTE 1: Director 5 does not support descrambling across more than one service.
There was the potential to incorrectly encode the SNMP Request ID with more
than four octets which is invalid. Guards have been added so that the Request
ID value will not exceed the number of valid octets encoded.
TT1222 units fitted with the latest QPSK demodulator card exhibit a problem
where the locked frequency reported from XPO or the front panel status menu
is incorrect. Instead of reporting the actual frequency that the demod card had
locked to, it reported a value matching the current LNB frequency. This was
more likely to be seen after a soft reboot of the unit. Despite reporting the
incorrect lock frequency, this did not prevent the TT1222 from correctly locking
on to carriers or acquiring/decoding services. This issue has now been
corrected.
15 Changes in 7.1.4
NOTE 1: Director 5 does not support descrambling across more than one service.
The TT1222 would stop decoding video after a period of time when service
cycling mode is enabled. The cause of the problem was identified as two
memory leaks which have been fixed.
When the TT1222 would display DVB subtitles they would occasionally flicker.
This was resolved by delaying the subtitle epoch region updates to prevent it
from affecting the previous subtitle display.
During testing a specific scenario was identified when a service was not being
removed from the CAM as expected. The logic for creating and sending
messages to the CAM was modified to resolve the specific problem.
16 Changes in 7.1.3
NOTE 1: Director 5 does not support descrambling across more than one service.
The issue occurred when a stream using the simulcrypt feature, to allow
multiple CA Vendors to transmit the control word for an encrypted stream in
different ECM packets at the same time, is descrambled and decoded.
Analysis of a supplied stream found that the glitch occurs at the point the
TT1222 receives a PMT packet with a different version number and this gets
sent to the CAM.
The description below provides a brief summary of how the TT1222 performs
under certain circumstances under the two different PMT update modes.
Standard mode
When the unit is set to ‘Standard’ mode it processes all the entries in the
‘sd_info_list’ structure creating a CA_PMT for each individual service and
sending them to the CAM once they are processed.
Swapping from primary decoded stream to stream NOT currently in MSD list -
NO GLITCH on other descrambled services.
“1 PMT mode”
When the unit is set to ‘1PMT’ mode it processes all the entries in the
‘sd_info_list’ structure adding them into a single common CA_PMT before
sending the one PMT to the CAM.
When the TT1222 common interface pmt mode is set to ‘1 PMT (pid)’.
Swapping from primary decoded stream to stream NOT currently in MSD list –
GLITCH.
Outstanding issues:
17 Changes in 7.1.2
NOTE 1: Director 5 does not support descrambling across more than one service.
Release 7.1.2 contains all of the features in 7.1.1 with the following
differences:
The TT1222 can now decode and render the special characters required to
support Portuguese Teletext Subtitles. This includes the ability to display a
standard character along with a diacritic mark and the inclusion of the
complete latin G2 set as specified in the ETS 300 706 specification.
The TT1222 has the concept of wrong, ok and perfect. These are now used to
gauge the audio language rankings. In this case, when entering “deu” in to the
front panel, "ger" will be gauged as ok instead of TRUE, and "deu" will be
gauged as perfect instead of TRUE. All other languages will be gauged as
wrong instead of FALSE.
In this instance, the service being selected had both H.264 video and AC-3
audio and the customer was only able to descramble the H.264 video. When
the TT1222 detects the H.264 component, it will de-multiplex that PID and
configure it for descrambling. It will then update the video PID status menu
with the string “xxxx (Demux)” where xxxx is the PID number. The array used
to hold this string was not big enough, causing the software to crash before
configuring the AC-3 audio PID for descrambling. The menu string array has
now been increased so that the TT1222 no longer crashes.
Uploading an XML configuration file to the TT1222 did not always modify the
Alarm Filters correctly. If the TT1222 already had Alarm Filters defined and the
XML configuration file has no filters defined, the Alarm Filters on the TT1222
do get cleared but the status page still behaves as though the previous filters
are still present. This has now been corrected so that the filters used on the
alarm status page get updated after the XML file upload.
17.2.3 BER hole when the ratio Master Clock/Symbol Rate is close to 3.
A workaround for the problem of a BER hole when the ratio between Master
Clock and Symbol Rate is close to 3 was added which consists changing the
initial Master Clock and then launch the search algorithm again. This fix was
lifted from latest ST drivers (v2.8.0).
18 Changes in 7.1.1
NOTE 1: Director 5 does not support descrambling across more than one service.
Release 7.1.1 contains all of the features in 7.1.0 with the following
differences:
A new Stop Mode is now support called NO SYNCS. When this mode is
selected, the TT1222 will stop generating a signal on the CVBS output when
there is no video being decoded (e.g. video decoding failure or no presence of
a video component). The output on the SDI will be black/blank video.
18.1.2 Go Remote
A new command has been added to the debug terminal interface, which
allows the system to be set to REMOTE control mode. To execute the
command, the following syntax should be used:
MMI_GoRemote
When the system enters REMOTE control mode, the terminal is disabled as
the RS232 input is now used for serial remote control. The purpose of this
command is to allow the TT1222 to return to REMOTE control after a serial
software upgrade or XML file upload (neither of these operations can be
performed whilst not in LOCAL mode).
When the TT1222 is in REMOTE control mode, the serial command 0x000B
(CtrlMode) can be used to set the unit to LOCAL mode.
When Service Filtering is enabled for the IP Output module fitted to a TT1222
and the output is configured to DESCRAMBLED, the filtered service will now
have all CA descriptors removed from its PMT on the output stream. This
ensures the PMT section is kept to a minimum size.
The Teletext Status parameter located in the Status menus of the front panel
is now also present in XPO under the Service tab in the Teletext – Subtitles
section. This is will display the following states:
Not sent Teletext transmission is turned on, but there is no Teletext for
the service in the transport stream.
Overflow Teletext is switched on, but some lines are being suppressed by
higher priority VBI data.
A new configuration setting has been added that will enable or disable all On-
Screen-Display (OSD) instances. This is a master control that will override all
OSD displays i.e. Teletext Subtitling, DVB Subtitling and Service Cycling OSD.
This is located in front panel:
Setup > Video Setup > Default o/p > Master OSD: On/Off
This setting can also be configured via the XPO pages under the Service tab
in the Video Advanced section.
The TT1220 had a feature called "PMT Mode" which allowed the user to
configure how the PMT would be constructed when sent to the CAM. This
feature was removed from the TT1222 and hard coded to the setting
1PMT(PID) allowing the TV and Radio Service selections to be sent in one
PMT.
This particular Aston Pro CAM didn't like this setting and any attempt to
configure more than two/three services for descrambling via the MSD CAM
would fail.
The TT1222 now has a configurable PMT Mode as supported by the TT1220.
In order to descramble ten services successfully, the PMT Mode must be set
to STANDARD, but will remain set as 1PMT(PID) by default. This setting is
located in the front panel menu:
This setting can also be configured via the XPO pages under the Conditional
Access tab in the Common Interface section.
There was a defect with the IP Output module where the Service ID selected
for service filtering would only be latched if the Service Filtered was enabled.
Changing this Service ID whilst service filtering was disabled did not get
latched. This meant that when Service filtering is then enabled, the service
being filtered would be the previous selection or no service after a boot up.
This has been corrected so that the service selected is always latched
whether it is enabled or disabled.
When the PSI Mode is to OFF (i.e. not DVB/ATSC), the user must then
specify the component PIDs for decoding rather than a service ID. Setting the
video PID works but not after a reset, this PID had to be re-entered in order to
successfully decode. This defect was introduced in version 7.1.0 but has now
been fixed.
19 Changes in 7.1.0
NOTE 1: Director 5 does not support descrambling across more than one service.
Release 7.1.0 contains all of the features in 7.0.4 with the following
differences:
NOTE: A purchasable Licence Key is required to enable the MPE / Ethernet Data feature.
MPE provides a data path for IP data within transport streams. This data path
consists of private sections (called DSMCC sections). These sections are
provided within a private PID that is manually entered in to the IRD. This is
configured in the front panel menu Setup > Outputs > Ethernet Data and
also in XPO under the Output tab.
NOTE: Service cycling will only function if the PSI Mode is set to DVB or ATSC. Disabling the PSI
Mode will mean that service cycling will not function correctly.
A new feature has been added to the TT1222 which when enabled, will auto-
select services from the incoming transport stream. After a specified timeout,
the unit will auto-select the next service in the list.
Setup > TV Service > Serv Cyc > Serv Cyc: On/Off
The following menu is used to specify the number of seconds the receiver
should stay on a selected service before automatically selecting the next
service:
These settings can also be configured via the XPO pages under the Service
tab.
De-scrambling will not work if PSI mode is OFF and should be set to
either DVB or ATSC mode:
Check the correct MPEG4 Video component PID has been found by
observing the Status menu:
o Status > Alarm > Video WARNING > Demux PID only
o Status > PID Info > TV Service > Video: XXX (Demux)
The Director V5 Authorisation Status has now been added to the front panel
menu:
This status can also be found in the XPO page under the Conditional Access
tab.
A remote control command has been added which will force the system to
undergo a Reset. The behaviour after the reset will be for the system to reboot
and return to remote control mode.
0x2001 SystemReset
Length: 0 (INTEGER)
Access: Write
10 02 01 01 ff ff 35 20 01 00 00 ff ff 00 00 14 10 03
Teletext PTS synchronisation can now be disabled in the same way as the
TT1220. A menu item has been added to the front panel to facilitate this:
Setup > Video Setup > 625 Setup > Ttx PTS Sync: On/Off
This setting can also be found in the XPO page under the Service > Teletext -
Subtitles tab.
When synchronisation is turned off, this will affect both PTS synchronisation
for Teletext and Teletext Subtitles.
Where the MPE licence is enabled, this adds more configuration settings to
the XPO Output page. These extra settings had caused the argument variable
buffer to overflow and immediately reset the receiver. This buffer has been
increased and checks have been introduced to the handler to deal with
potential overflows.
Configuring a large number of GPO setting in a single update had caused the
receiver to reboot. These settings had caused the argument variable buffer to
overflow and immediately reset the receiver. This buffer has been increased
and checks have been introduced to the handler to deal with potential
overflows.
The cfgBoardListTable MIB is used to describe the input and output modules
fitted to the receiver, assigning a module with a port ID. The IP Output Module
was assigned an incorrect port ID, which prevented the Auto-Discovery
feature introduced to nCompass Control from mapping the ports correctly. The
workaround for this has been for the user to map these ports manually.
The cfgBoardListTable MIB has been corrected for all input and output
modules.
Configuring the Frame Format to 4/3 and Frame Conversion to 16/9LB, AFD
or AFDWSS had caused the decoded video to shift down by one line when the
video source being decoding was 4/3. This was due to an error in the video
driver, as it did not interpret the video source as 4/3 and incorrectly adjusted
the video output. This has now been fixed.
The portTable MIB is used to describe the physical ports available on the input
and output modules fitted to the receiver. The SDI/ASI Output Module has two
output ports that can be independently configured for SDI or ASI. Using the
portTable MIB only revealed one SDI port being available which affected the
port redundancy feature in nCompass Control. This has now been corrected
so that two ports are visible and correctly describe the port as being SDI or
ASI and whether it is enabled. The receiver will also update the port state if
the user changes the SDI/ASI Output configuration.

The DCP method, setmode, is used to set the operational mode of the unit –
active or inactive and is used in redundancy scenarios.
The MSD PID Threshold configuration found in the Setup > Outputs >
Alarms > Select Alarms > CA submenu was actually duplicated in all the
alarm sub-menus. This has been corrected so the MSD PID Threshold
configuration is only located in the CA sub-menu for alarm settings.
The Half Duplex alarm associated with an IP Output Port is now only raised
when the Line Rate for that IP Output Port is set to AUTO. When the Line
Rate is configured for a full duplex transmission link (i.e. no AUTO negotiate),
the register used to flag the half duplex condition is not valid and would falsely
signal the Half Duplex alarm.
The 10Mbps alarm associated with an IP Output Port is now only raised when
the Line Rate for that IP Output Port is set to 100 MB. This alarm was being
raised when the Line Rate was configured as 10 MB or AUTO, which is not an
alarm condition in these modes.
When the Service Filter Mode is enabled, the payload of the PMT section is
limited to two transport stream packets. If PMT exceeded this limit, no alarm
was raised and the PMT data sent to the IP Output Module was incomplete,
missing the end of the section and therefore having no checksum.
Now, when service filter mode is enabled, the original PMT taken from the
transport stream is written to the firmware. However, if the PMT exceeds the
limit of two transport stream packets, the software will trim the PMT section so
that it is below this limit. References to service component PIDs at the end of
the PMT section are removed but these PIDs are still enabled in the service
filter for IP encapsulation. When this event happens, a "PMT overflow" alarm
is raised. The alarm is only cleared when the original PMT does not exceed
the two TS packet limit.
EXTREME CAUTION should be taken when upgrading units via FTP. A batch of TT1222/TT1221A
units only had one valid flash bank since these units left the factory with nothing programmed in the
second bank. It is therefore recommended that software is downloaded in to the non-active flash
bank so that in the event of a failure, the active flash bank remains valid. If both flash banks are
invalid, the unit must be returned to the factory to be reprogrammed.
NOTE 1: Upgrading via FTP is considerably quicker than via the serial method, but the serial
method is the most reliable way. The FTP upgrade should only be attempted if the current version
of software running on the TT1222/TT1221A is release 6.1.0 or greater.
NOTE 2: Upgrading via FTP should be avoided if the network is considered busy. The
TT1222/TT1221A may potentially lose connection and freeze. This will ultimately cause the
TT1222/TT1221A to reset itself with a corrupted flash bank. If the other flash bank is still valid, the
TT1222/TT1221A will swap to this other flash bank whilst booting and run the software version
installed from there.
NOTE 3: The updateimage batch files are different to those used by other ERICSSON Television
equipment.
1. Connect to the unit’s Ethernet port using either a twisted 10baseT Ethernet
cable or via a hub.
2. Extract the updateimage0.bat and updateimage1.bat files to the same
directory as the app_image.bin file. The updateimage files can be obtained
from Customer Support.
3. Determine the active flash bank (0 or 1) by using the command “app_bank”
in a terminal session (see section 20.2, point 2 above), or by navigating to
the front panel menu Properties > Flash Bank: X, where X is the current
active flash bank (this menu was added in release 7.1.0 onwards).
4. It is recommended that the software is downloaded to the non-active flash
bank in the event of a failure corrupting the active flash bank during the
upgrade process. (NOTE: To swap between flash banks, the left front panel
key must be held down during boot-up therefore you will need direct access
to the unit).
5. Using a DOS command prompt:
i. Type updateimage0 <IP address of unit> to upgrade flash bank 0,
or
ii. Type updateimage1 <IP address of unit> to upgrade flash bank 1.
6. Confirm that the image download was successful; this can be done by
checking that the screen output from updateimage shows that approx
3500000 bytes downloaded to the unit.
7. Power-cycle the unit and verify that the software revision indicated is the
new version. To swap between flash banks, the left front panel key must be
held down during boot-up.
