DAILY LESSON LOG OF M11GM-Ia-4 (Week One-Day Three)

School Grade Level Grade 11

Teacher Learning Area General Mathematics
Teaching Date and Time Quarter First
Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the
objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and
remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are
I. OBJECTIVES assessed using Formative Assessment Strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content
and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly
objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of functions.
B. Performance The learner is able to accurately construct mathematical models to represent
Standards real-life situations using functions.
Learning Competency: Solves problems involving functions. (M11GM-Ia-4)
C. Learning
Learning Objectives:
Competencies/
1. Identify what are given and what is asked in the problem
Objectives
2. Solve problems involving functions
3. Demonstrate cooperation in group activity
II. CONTENT Functions and Their Graph
III. LEARNING teacher’s guide, learner’s module,
RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide Page 20
2. Learner’s Materials
3. Textbook pages Next Century Mathematics(General Mathematics); pages 48-51
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resource (LR)
portal
B. Other Learning Resources
These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that
pupils/students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the pupils/
students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically
IV. PROCEDURES by providing pupils/students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice the learning, question
their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life
experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
A. For the review of the previous lesson, a short game “Pass that Tagboard”
will be done.
A group will consist of two columns. Each number in the game will be
answered first by the first 2 students in the column. After each number, the
tagboard will be passed on to the next row, so on and so forth until the last
number.
1) What is the result of (f+ g)(x) when f(x) =3x+4 and g(x) = x – 5?
Answer(f +g)(x) = 4x - 1
2) What is (f-g)(x) when given f(x) = 4x2 + 4x – 6 and g(x) = 3x2 + 2x -3?
Answer(f-g)(x) = x2+2x-3
3) (fg)(x) will be equal to ____ if f(x) = x +2 and g(x) = x
A. Review previous lesson or 4) (f/g)(x) is equal to ____ when f(x) = 5x and g(x) = x
presenting the new lesson 5) (f o g )(x) is ____ when f(x)= x – 7 and g(x) = 2x + 1

B. Do you remember the real life situation I shared to you last meeting
wherein operation of function can be applied? (Answer would be about the
problem on Mat Hematics)
Let us recall that this was the problem I gave you last meeting... Mat Hematics
has two jobs to attend to in a day. He works for 4 hours as cook in a carenderia
and his pay for such is defined as f(x) = 200x.In the afternoon he also works for
the same number of hours as English tutor to the Koreans and his pay is
described as g(x) = 500x.
… If you would be asked, how much does Mat earn in a day? What do you do
to solve this problem?
B. Establishing a purpose for The teacher emphasizes that in dealing with real-life problems, it is best to
the lesson understand the problem, identify what are given, what is asked and what
operation to use so that the problem can be represented correctly with the
use of functions. The teacher uses the presented problem as an example.
(Contextualization & Localization)Before presenting problems to discuss and
solve, the class will be divided into 6. Each group will be given a problem to
discuss and solve. The group shall assign a reporter and a secretary to write
their answers on a manila paper. Each group will be given 20 minutes to finish
the task. (This varies according to the groups’ speed to finish the task)
For Groups 1 & 4: A proposed train fare would charge Php20.00 for the first 5
kilometers of travel and Php0.75 for each additional kilometre over the
proposed fare.
a. Find the fare function f(x) where x represents the number of kilometres
travelled.
b. Find the proposed fare for a distance of 45 kilometers.
For Groups 2 & 5: Kama-o network charges P500 monthly cable connection fee
plus P125 for each hour of Pay – Per – View(PPV) event regardless of a full hour
C. Presenting examples/ or a fraction of an hour.
instances of the new lesson a. Construct a table of values that will show a mode of payment for
customers who may spend h number of hours in watching PPV events.
b. What is the monthly bill of a customer who watched 10 hours of PPV
events?
c. What is the monthly bill of a customer who watched 6.2 hours of PPV
events?
d. Sketch a graph that will show a mode of payment for customers who may
spend h hours in watching PPV events.
For groups 3 & 6: Suppose the production cost of locally produced smart phone
can be approximated by the model C(p) = 4 ( 3p + 25), where p is the number of
smart phones.
a. Find the fixed cost.
b. Find the cost of 5 smart phones.
c. How many phones that will cost P220.00?
After the group activity, the teacher will ask representatives from the groups to
discuss their answers in class. If it is necessary for the teacher to correct the
D. Discussing new concepts
answers it will be done through questioning, giving of the correct answers and
and practicing new skills
other possible ways to present the answer will be done only after the reporter
will finish his time.
