CONCEPT NOTE

INTRODUCTION

Labo Progressive Multi-Purpose Cooperative is an agri-based multi-purpose cooperative which


engage in agricultural production, processing, enterprise development, agri-credit, marketing, trading, and
product development. LPMPC farmer members producing different agri-products and pineapples are
compliant to Good Agricultural Practices with a group holder certification, adopted various agricultural
farming systems by member growers providing safe farm products.

LPMPC are processing pineapple fruit for our QUEENCH product lines such as juice drinks, pure,
jam and dehydrated pineapples. LPMPC has also engaged in pineapple fiber decortication, handwoven of
pineapple cloth, palay and rice trading and organic fertilizer production. LPMPC serves as market
consolidator for many of farmers produced. LPMPC was also entrusted to operate the Agri-Pinoy Trading
Center through the tripartite agreement between DA RFO 5, PGCN and LPMPC to serve as consolidators
of fruits and vegetable produce of farmers including palay. It is also on distributing and trading assorted
vegetables and root crops to mobile client entrepreneurs. The cooperative also helped develop household
farm enterprises to augment family farmers' income.

In partnership with TRIAS and AGRITERRA, it has been implementing projects involving the
business development to strengthening the services and production of LPMPC. However, the project
coordinators of Integrated Pineapple Processing (IPP), Handwoven, CN Agri-pinoy Trading center, Deco-
Fiber of LPMPC are necessarily to have capacity building for development of their management skills and
enhance the learning about marketing. Effective marketing improves the sales by serving the markets
better, and consequently helps to raise the income of the cooperative and its associated farmers.

On December 7 – 8, 2022. The Business Review and Planning Workshop was conducted in Mambulao
Pacific Resort to formulate or review existing agri-business plans of LPMPC and update its operation to
project expansion annually. Thru the facilitation, inputs and advice of the expert, the agribusiness
managers/staff have formulated/develop or reviewed their agri-business projecting 3 years financial
operation. During training, the names of each agribusiness project were renewed : The Integrated Pineapple
Processing as IPPM (Integrated Pineapple Processing and Marketing ), CN-APTC as Agricultural
Trading Enterprises (ATE) , Handwoven as Bicol Tropical Fiber Enterprise and Decorticated Fiber for
Pineapple Fiber Decortication Enterprise (BTFE). The basic drive for improving the Business plan of
LPMPC is the desire to improve the income of the farmers. Improving income is generally achieved by
selling more products (volume), obtaining higher prices and/or by reducing costs.

Specific objectives

Final Presentation of Business of the agri-businesses of the cooperative such as: Integrated Pineapple
Processing (IPP), Formosa Decorticated Fiber, Hand Woven Alampay and APTC with these components

Note: The coop bookkeeper/s will help the business managers in the computations of their financial
analysis for 5 years. The project coordinators will present and report their financial statement: Balance
Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow for 3 years projection.

Assignment details

 Composition of the Agriterra assignment team:


o Ben Luther Lucas Agriterra business advisor
 Duration of the assignment: The time frame of the assignment will be 2 days (16-17 December 2023).
This includes 1 day for preparation/travel, 2 days execution and business plan
review/comments/recommendations and final presentation.

Arrangements

 Responsibilities of Client Coop:


o LPMPC will invite staff participants thru memo, arrange the venue of the workshop,
coordinate food and snacks, including the provisions of workshop materials, hotel
accommodation for experts and local transportation. LPMPC will shoulder the cost of the
training.

 Responsibilities Agriterra:
o Agriterra will arrange the programme assignment/design of the workshop, contracting
experts, facilitate meeting of expert and Coop management. Agriterra will shoulder the
Professional Fees of the Expert.

 Responsibilities Experts:
o Conduct/facilitate the 2 days Final Business Presentation
o Resource persons/business advice,
o review and corrected the 4 agri-business plans of the cooperative
