Home (2009) – A review

Starting with the genesis of basic life form, the video explores the origin and
evolution of all the other organisms formed through various natural processes.
Over the years, the evolutions necessitated various adaptations of their habitat.
Human beings , being the most complex and developed organisms started settling
down by the water bodies mainly riverside for agriculture purposes later leading
to settlements and civilisation. We adapted and learned to use the resources from
the nature to our benefit and has come so far in terms of technological
advancement.
The studies show that the resources are consumed in tremendous amount by a
very small fraction of people. The race for development has blinded the world into
paranoia. The figures itself shows how our priorities are shifting away from an eco
friendly development . The excessive consumption of these resources are causing
irreversible changes in the environment.

Earth became the habitat for millions of creatures as a result of the evolution.
Every creature tries to survive by adapting to its nature. Human beings have
conquered the world more than any other species and this resulted in the
ecological imbalance .It has become a necessity to rectify our errors and restore
and protect the nature.

The video also explores various studies that reveals that around the globe people
are suffering from unhealthy drinking water and lack of food. More than 50% of
the grain sold in the world is destined to feed livestock and for bio-fuel. 40% of
cultivable land has deteriorated. Deforestation has causes
13 million hectares of forest disappear every year. Species are becoming extinct at
a rate that is 1,000 times higher than the natural rhythm. The repercussions of
human interventions on our environment and planet has many more effects that
is explored in detail in the film.
It Is essential that this video reaches everyone to create awareness on the
importance of land and wilderness conservation, reforestation, buying fair trade
products and being responsible consumers.

“Home “ is a mind boggling journey that takes us through transition of our planet
after the human intervention.
