BASKETBALL

Rules and Guidelines

Legibility:

1. Participants should be an official enrolled of WIT-Mechanical Engineering Department.


2. There should be 2 teams per year level (3 teams for first year) with total participants of 9
team from different year level.
3. Each team must consist maximum of 15 members.

Objective:

The objective of basketball is to score in the opponent’s basket and prevent them from scoring
from the basket your team is defending.

Penalties:

1. Fouling an opponent by illegal personal contact or unsportsmanlike conduct on the court


and even on the sideline will cause a turnover or it’s the opponent’s ball.
2. 5 personal fouls will make you fouled out and will not play the rest of the game.
3. 2 technical fouls will result in ejection from the game.
4. Technical foul occurs when you mock the referee, intentionally hurting your opponent or
when you argue with the referee’s call.
5. 1 technical foul will result in1 free throw and ball possession of the opponent
6. Fouling an opponent while taking a shot will result in 2 free throws if the shot was not
made, 1 free throw when the shot is made, and the basket counts and 3 free throws when
fouled outside the 3-point line.
7. Each team is limited to 4 team fouls per regulation period exceeding will result to a penalty
(2 free throws) Tournament Structure: All games will be played in an Elimination format.

Mechanics:
1. The game will have 3 brackets with 3 teams each bracket, you will be drawing lots in order
to determine which bracket you will belong.
2. Elimination game will have 2 games per team, and the top 1 team of each bracket will
automatically send to play in semis. (Point system if tied)
3. The semis will have 4 teams and in order to determine the last team that qualified to semis
is by having the point system that will be picked in top 2 seeds in each bracket.
4. The 4 teams will be having drawn lots in order to know their perspective match up.
5. The Final game will only have 1 game.
6. The game starts with a jump ball, and whoever gets the jump ball will have the first ball for
the first and last quarter. Afterwards, the other team will have possession of the first ball in 2 nd
and 3rd quarter.
7. There are 4 quarters in a basketball game, 8 min in 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarter (running time),
while 10 min in 4th quarter in a basketball game in FIBA rules. Ending the 4th quarter with the
same score will result in overtime, a 3- minute extension (running time). The game clock will
still continue in 1st,2nd,3rd quarter even in taking free-throws.
8. The game will follow Passarelle rules, the 1st five of the team should play the whole 1st
quarter of the game and the 2nd and 3rd five will play the 2nd quarter, 4 min both.

9. The one contested in the jump ball could only tap the ball, grabbing the ball will result in a
turnover.
10. Shooting inside the 3-point line is 2 points, outside the 3-point line is 3 points and a free
throw is 1 point.
11. A team will only have 24 seconds shot clock, if the rim was hit and the ball is still on the
offensive team the shot clock will reset to 12 seconds. Failure to make the shot within 24
seconds or 12 seconds will result in shot clock violation and a turnover.
12. Failure to get the ball on the other side of the court within 8 seconds will result in 8
seconds violation and a turnover.

13. When moving the ball, you have to dribble it, moving in different directions without
dribbling the ball will result in travelling violation and a turnover.
14. Dribbling with 2 hands more than once will result in double dribble and a turnover.
15. After gathering the ball from dribbling, a player would have an extra 2 steps, exceeding this
will result in travelling violation and a turnover.
16. Teams who failed to follow instruction will be disqualified.

VOLLEYBALL
Rules and Guidelines

Legibility:

1. Participant should be an officially enrolled student of WIT- Mechanical


Engineering Department.

2. Each year level should have 1 team composed of 15members- a total of 4 teams
from different year level.

Tournament Structure:

1. Elimination round will have 3-set match.


2. Finals will have 5-set match.
3. Double elimination.

Mechanics:

1. Only 6 players on the floor at any given time: 3 in the front row and 3 in the back row.

2. Points are made on every serve for the winning team of the rally (rally-point scoring).

3. Players may not hit the ball twice in succession (a block is not considered a hit).

4. Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on a serve.

5. A ball hitting a boundary line is in.

6. A ball is out if it hits an antennae, the floor completely outside the court, any of the net
or cables outside the antennae, the referee stand or pole, or the ceiling above a non-
playable area.

7. It is legal to contact the ball with any part of a player’s body.

8. It is illegal to catch, hold or throw the ball.

9. A player cannot block or attack a serve from on or inside the 10-foot line.

10. After the serve, front-line players may switch positions at the net.

11. Matches are made up of sets; the number depends on level of play.

Violations

1. Stepping on or across the service line when serving while making contact with the
ball.

2. Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully.

3. Ball-handling errors and contacting the ball illegally (double touching, lifting,
carrying, throwing, etc.)

4. Touching the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play.

5. Blocking a ball coming from the opponent’s court and contacting the ball when reaching
over the net if your opponent has not used 3 contacts AND has a player there to make a
play on the ball.

6. Attacking a ball coming from the opponent’s court and contacting the ball when
reaching over the net when the ball has not yet broken the vertical plane of the net.

7. Crossing the court centerline with any part of your body, with the exception of a
hand or foot. It is only considered a violation if the entire hand or entire foot crosses
the court centerline.

8. Serving out of rotation or out of order

MOBILE LEGENDS

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE:

1. Tournament is open to all-male, or all female, or mixed teams.

2. Qualifying Stage 16 teams will undergo Single elimination best of 3, top 8


teams will be bracketed (A and B) go to the next round and will undergo a
round robin point system (1 game per round) (draw lots will be use in
assigning teams to clash).

3. The top 2 teams in each bracket will advance to play offs, which the top 1 of
each bracket will go to the upper bracket and the top 2 will go on the lower
bracket, top two (2) teams will advance to the Finals

4. Finals will be Best-of-3 games.

PLAYER REQUIREMENTS:

1. A player can only join one team.

2. Players must be available during tournament dates failure to do so will be


punished with disqualification.

3. Players must be a Mechanical Engineering student of Western Institute of


Technology.

4. Players must be currently enrolled in school year (2023-2024) .

TEAM REQUIREMENTS:

1. A team must consist of the following members:


 5 main players (required)
 1-2 reserve players (optional)
 1 coach/player-coach (optional)

2. Once nominated/registered regular/reserved players cannot be replaced


throughout the event.

SCHEDULE/TIMING OF MATCHES:

1. The tournament is an Online Tournament.

2. Players will be advised of schedule and timing of matches thru the


announcement of the game committee/through officers incharge.

3. Only Tournament Director can alter schedule and timing of matches.

GENERAL CONDUCT:

1. Players are expected to conduct themselves and compete with the spirit of
sportsmanship, maintaining a friendly and polite demeanor in activities
involving other participants and public in general.

2. The organizer has the right to apply penalties, disqualify and dismiss any
registered player from the tournament, at their discretion, at any stage of the
tournament.

3. Cheating doesn’t need to be successful to qualify as a violation. Conspiring to


cheat is already a violation and will lead to an automatic disqualification for
all conspirators.

4. Example of cheating includes, but are not limited to:


 Ghosting
 Account sharing
 Piloting

Rules and Guidelines

Legibility:

1. Participant should be an officially enrolled student of WIT- Mechanical


Engineering Department.

2. Open to all ME Students.

3. Assigned Sports Fest Referee makes the final decision on eligibility issues.

4. Officers are allowed to join, but they must prioritize the in-charge categories
assigned to them.

Irregularities and Penalties:


a. Major Offense
> 1st offense addition of two minutes to the opponent’s time
> 2nd offense loss of game

b. Minor Offenses
 >1st offense warning
 >2nd offense addition of two minutes to the opponent’s time
 >3rd offense loss of game

c. Mobile phones and other means of electronic communications are strictly


prohibited inside the playing area. A player who will violate this rule shall lose
his/her game.

d. A team whose member is giving unsolicited advice or assistance to his teammate


while the games are in progress shall lose their match.

Tournament Structure and Mechanics:

1. Each school unit will have its own single team, which will be composed of either
males or females, or a combination of both.

2. Each team should bring at least 2 mats/boards and chess clock installed in their
smart phones.

3. Each team should designate players as their Board 1, Board 2, Board 3 and Board
4.

4. Single elimination tournament.

5. Member must only play on their designated boards.

6. The goal in chess is delivering a checkmate – trapping your opponent’s king.

7. Chess is played between two players each having 16 chess pieces (white/black).
Players alternate turns moving their pieces on a 64-square board of alternating
dark/light colors.

8. The game ends when one side's king piece is “Checkmated".

9. Win criteria: The player must checkmate his/her opponent.

Tournament Rules:

1. Properly move all of the chess piece.

2. Understand pawn promotion.

3. Understand rules for “advanced” moves: Castling and en passant capture (note:
please ask the organizer in case of any confusion about en passant rule )

4. Understand Check and the ways to get out of check (move, block, capture).

LARO NG LAHI
Dodgeball
Rules and Guidelines

Legibility

1. Participants should be an officially enrolled of WIT- Mechanical Engineering


Program.
2. 2 teams per year level with a total of 8 teams.
3. Each team must have 8-10 maximum members.

Objective

The objective of this game by throwing a ball and hitting all opponents in
order them to be eliminated and win the game with a given time.

Mechanics

1. Each team has each random opponent through picking of paper in the box.
2. By tossing a coin or bato-bato pick the 2 teams will be decided as one who
will throw the ball and be hit by the ball.
3. Players of the team are not allowed to run outside the lines if this happens
he/she will be out from the game.
4. Hitting opponents in the head, face, and sensitive parts has a penalty.
5. A first player eliminated in the game can be revived and back in the game if
his/her teammates catch the ball.
6. Each game has a duration of 4 minutes and no time out.
7. The game will be 10 vs. 10 players.
8. Simultaneous throwing of the ball is not allowed.
9. The team who will have many points in the given period of time will be the
winner.
10. The game is single elimination.
11. If there are 2 teams tied, toss coin will be the basis for declaring a winner
throughout the game.

Point System

1. If a player caught the ball then it suddenly falls it’s considered a no-point and
that player will be removed from the game.
2. 1 point for each ball caught
3. 3 penalties are considered as 1 point
4. If there are 2 teams
