ACTIVITY 07: My Take on the National Artists

Contemporary art is frequently about ideas and issues rather than just the
aesthetic appearance of the piece. Contemporary arts allow for the exploration of either theme or
technique in the art to reflect the Filipino sense of self. Contemporary artists explore in many
ways with new ideas and materials. Contemporary artists provide a platform for the diverse and
ever-changing environment of identities, values, and ideas. During this first semester, we already
discussed many people who were conferred as national artists. This award aspires to recognize
Filipinos who have made significant contributions to the country's cultural heritage and identity.
It honors music, dance, theater, visual arts, literature, films and broadcast arts, architecture, and
associated arts. The national artist award is the most outstanding level of national recognition to
Filipinos who contributed to developing the Philippine arts. Being called a national artist or
being honored as a national artist means your work is excellent, and it gives a different meaning
which represents our country. There are many criteria before someone be called a national artist.
The presidential proclamation confers the position and title of National Artist. The national artist
of our country has a lot of impact and contribution to Philippine contemporary art. The
Philippine national artist gives pride to every Filipino, especially to our country. Through the
work of the national artist, they show Filipino pride, culture, and beliefs in every part of our
country. It enables people from different cultures and eras to communicate with one another
through images, music, and tales. Their artwork also shows their love for the country. Our
country is now recognized in other countries or other parts of the world through the Philippine
national artists. Sometimes, arts is a way to grow and succeed in society and the country.
Filipino national artist has made many contributions to the contemporary arts and in our country
itself. It gives a historical identity to our contemporary arts. This Philippine national artist
inspires everyone, especially the aspiring artist, in music, dancers, literature, theater, and
architecture. The national artist also educates everyone through their work. Being a national
artist of the Philippines feels like the artist is carrying the name of our country, and it is a
privilege and has many opportunities that will open to the artist. Some of the contributions of the
national Philippine artist to the contemporary arts and artist gives inspiration to the aspiring
national artist. Through their work, the people have a chance to know more about the arts and to
know the different cultures and what art truly is. It also helps the contemporary artist for the
reason that they will gain a lot of learning through this conferred Philippine national artist. In
addition, the national artist gives a legacy to themselves and to our country. Also, they make the
art in our country more recognizable for the reason that they make a wonderful creation and
work that will make our country and netizens proud. Their work gives a lot of benefits, and the
people will recognize them because of their excellent work.
