 “Coming-of-age”
A little bit about myself

On the 4th day of February 2005, a beautiful and lovely girl was
born. She was named Mica Larice C. Pastor, which was me. I am the
first daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pastor. I graduated from primary level in
a small private school. During those days, my family saw my skills when
it came to studying. I was a very active student, who loves to read and
write. Some kids will play during their free time, but for my case, I

will rather read, write, or draw. I am fond of singing, dancing, and
reading romantic fictional books. I am really ADDICTED to reading
romantic novels. I am in my own world when reading. I also stan the
girl group Twice since the year 2017.

I entered Marikina Catholic School for my elementary level

education. I had many fun memories with my newly found friends.
During these days, I purely focused on studying. It felt like I did not
enjoy my childhood days because my priority is my education. I do not
value my friends much. I thought that all of them are temporary people
in my life and that soon we will not be able to see each other again.
But, when elementary graduation neared, I found the value of
friendship. Although it is too late for this, I learned many things about
it. By the year 2017, I graduated elementary school and faced a new
chapter of my life which is entering high school.

 I was culture shocked the first day I entered high school.
Switching from private school to public school was a really big leap for
me. There were many things that were new to me. I learned that I will
be able to meet different kinds of people in life, that high school is just
a starting point. Entering the STE program was hard but fun. It was

hard due to the workload, pressure, and expectation. But it was fun,
because of the people that I have met. We laughed, cried, fought, and
made many fun memories together throughout the 4 years of junior high
school. We were extremely sad that the last year of junior high school
was spent online. We did not get to graduate and see each other
personally before parting ways for senior high school. Now, as a senior
high school student I learned through my mistakes. I learned that
friendship and studying are partners. Me and my friends helped each
other a lot during hard times. They were my saviors and supporters. I
am becoming anxious and scared because only a few months remain
before we graduate high school and we will part ways for college. I am
afraid that the 6 years of memories will remain as memories. I am also
afraid that I will not be able to see my newly found friends during
senior high school.

Memorable Event in my Life

A surprise birthday party was held for my 18th birthday. On the
exact day of my birthday, my family and friends were all present for my
special day. They held a plan wherein February 4 would be my
celebration with my family and February 5 would be my celebration with
my friends. But before that, I was also having hints that they were
helding a surprise for me. I expected that only my family members
would be included. I did not know that my friends were an ally. My

friends weren’t obvious, unlike my family. It is ironic because I tell my
friends that I feel something fishy with my family’s actions. It was a
really fun and memorable experience and event in my life because all of
my loved ones are in the same place celebrating my very lovely and
special day. I was just sad that my father didn’t get to live longer to
be with me. My 18 roses were somewhat empty without him.

I really appreciate all the people who worked hard to help for the
preparation of my birthday. Due to financial problems, we cannot afford
a grand celebration of my birthday. That is why many people contributed
for the food, decorations, cake, sound system, and even my makeup.
Even though I have hints that it was a surprise, I doubt that it will
happen because of our financial situation. I was so busy with school that
even though my friends and family had a slip of tongue, I did not mind
it due to stress. I really believed that I had a mini photoshoot to send
my photos to my uncle abroad. That is why I agreed to get my hair and
makeup done.

 Future Plans
After graduating senior high school, I planned to enter college and
take the course Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After having a regular
job and being able to save money, I will buy a house and car for my
family. I also plan to pay for my sister’s education and let my family
live a happy and comfortable life. I will take all the lessons that I have
learned from now up until the future to be a better person and to have
a better relationship with other people. I hope that I will find new

friends and have healthy relationships with others. And I really really
hope that the friendship that I have built will remain strong forever.
