limiting and on top of that super frustrating
sometimes #glitchy.
Aa a result, most creatives who are producing
engaging, stunning and popular vertical videos are
using ingenious third party editing apps to create
Reels that truly pop!

subscription to be able to use
the full pack.

CapCut offers easy-to-
use video editing
functions, free in-APP
fonts and effects,
advanced features such
as keyframe animation,
smooth slow-motion, and
stabilisation, to help you
capture and edit your
videos to perfection.

I love that it has a desktop and a
mobile version with a very
straightforward interface, PLUS
it provides awesome transitions
and fun effects especially for
photo only Reels!

4. VN
This is my personal go-to! It
contains cool transitions and it's
music recognition function makes
using trending sounds super easy!
My favourite editing
tool is the Trim
function, that makes
stop motions creation
feel like child's play! You

can also introduce slow
mo or super speed to
time movements with

PLUS you can edit HDR videos and import all kinds of

5. ADOBE PREMIER RUSH
Like all of Adobe's software this is powerful and
intuitive and if you're used to Adobe products, you'll
find this a breeze to work with.
Premiere Rush is a simpler video editor compared to
Premier Pro, though after using it for years, I switched
to VN because Rush didn't offer cool built in transitions
and the free version has some serious limitations

6. IMOVIE
iMovie is a free video-editing program only for Apple
users.
It's very easy to use but does not have quite as many
features as the aforementioned apps. Nonetheless,
for many OG smart phone videographers, this is still
their go-to as it's perfect for quick and easy Youtube
videos, TikToks and YouTube shorts!

FINALLY...
A word about TikTok and Instagram's built in editing
tools....
As mentioned in the intro, at the time of creating this
PDF,Instagram's Reel editing app is super glitchy. It
also has a lot of creative limitations, BUT - just like
TikTok - Instagram rewards creators who use their
build in editing featured by favouring their content in
the algorithm.
If you'd like as much creative control as possible AND

stay in TikTok and Instagram's good books. why not
create the Reel of your dreams in the editing
software of your choice. Then head to IG or TikTok
and add their finishing touches such as a soft filter,
one of the songs from their library or their fonts?
That way you get the best of both worlds!
