The test was made at Comau facilities using a Fanuc Controller R-30iA and Balluff I/O modules. Performing the
test was Comau personnel and Balluff personnel.
Modules connected:
Balluff module for 12 Input/Outputs and 4 IO-Link Ports; Configurable: BNI EIP-502-105-Z015.
Balluff module IO-Link sensor hub, up to 16 Inputs: BNI IOL-104-S01-Z012.
Balluff module IO-Link interface for SMC manifold, up to 24 valves: BNI IOL-751-V03-K007.
Fanuc controller R-30iA with Ethernet/IP RJ45 port connection
Verify that the Fanuc controller has the Ethernet/IP option in the I/O Menu:
On the teach-pendant Press MENUS ¬ select I/O
And verify on the list displayed that the option for Ethernet/IP is shown.

Following the guide “BNI EIP-502-105-Z015 integrated with FANUC R-30iA in RSNetworx for Ethernet-IP – Rev2
-8-9-12.pdf”
Balluff BNI EIP-502-105-Z015 integrated with FANUC R-30iA in RSNetworx for EtherNet-IP - Rev 2 - 8-9-12.pdf
In the step letter ‘F’ of the guide, there is this ‘Connection Properties’ window, on it we have to notice when
changing the values different than ‘0’, see image and text.
In the picture are set to “0” both of them, so it means that the Balluff module will
start at Bit address 0 of the controller mapping.
In this case the controller begins the mapping in the set address, but the
addresses before are lose, because is not an offset of the address, it´s in fact the
address that the controller start.
Once the steps in the guide are finished, at the controller side using the teach pendant is necessary to run the
“Controlled mode” and restart the Fanuc Controller…

Note:
If Ethernet/IP Addresses are modified in any of the devices connected, controller mode is changed,
parameters changed; It´s is necessary to restart the whole system in order that new values are updated and
changes are accepted.

Two inputs from the sensors are connected to an IO-Link sensor hub and a SMC manifold valve controlled by
the Balluff master for IO-Link with Ethernet/IP connection.
Balluff Module: IO-Link Sensor Hub for Total Capacity of the module: Up to 76 standard
inputs, up to 16 Standard sensors is sensors, or 12 Standard I/O Configurable plus 4 IO-
possible. Link ports.

Conclusions:
The Balluff modules were tested with the Fanuc Controller R-30iA, after configuration performed by Comau
engineers and tech support from Balluff personnel, were tested inputs at different address and activated
outputs of the master IO-Link Balluff module forced ON using the Fanuc teach pendant, also were activated
the outputs for the valves on the SMC bank manifold valve.
In order to use the full capacity of the IO-Link master Balluff module is necessary and recommended to use it
with a Fanuc Controller R-30iB.
Pending issue:
The step letter ‘F’ described before (in the pdf document also), if the values are different from ‘0’ zero to a
higher value the addresses lower are lost, due that moving the address is not moving the zero like an offset
address, instead the controller takes from the address set and higher, that´s why the lower addresses are lost,
we will check this issue with Fanuc technical support.
I would thank your help to improve this document for any details not covered in this report or needed to be
modify, will be considered as new information and after reviewing the points with the personnel assigned by
Comau and Balluff, new test will need to be performed and if all the parts are agree will be added to this
report.
