2 Description

Firmware download instructions:

1. Set SW5 pole ‘1’ to Open on the NPM22 module.

2. Set SW2 poles ‘3’, ‘5’, ‘6’, and ‘8’ to Open on the NPM22 module.

3. Connect an RS-232 cable to the DB9 connector just behind the NPM22 front panel.
NOTE: A flat ribbon cable with DB9 connectors is required if there is no space be-
tween the modules in the MMU. The other end of the cable goes to the PC COM port.

OR

Connect mini-USB to USB cable to the diagnostic port on the front plate of the NPM22.
NOTE: The PC requires a Windows Combined Driver Model (CDM) interface driver,
which can be installed on Windows 2000, XP, VISTA, Windows 7, or Windows 10. In
most situations, Windows Update can be used to automatically locate and download
the device driver for this interface. If Windows Update is unable to locate the correct
driver, then you can download the
FT232R interface driver from the manufacturer's web site - http://www.ftdichip.com.

Currently, the driver file is named per the latest available version of CDM WHQL Certi-
fied.zip. The following application note (from the manufacturer's web site) describes
the driver installation procedure:
"Document Reference No.: FT_000160 FTDI Drivers Installation guide for Windows 7
Application Note AN_119 (latest version)”

4. Configure the COM port to 38, N, 8, and 1 (38K baud, no parity, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit)
and select no flow control using Hyperterminal software.

5. Insert the NPM22 module in the MMU and wait for the following prompt to appear:

Hello, enter “~“ and “!” to start XMODEM download

6. Select Transfer > Send using Hyperterminal software.

7. Select the download file and XModem protocol

8. Copy (CTRL+C) the file name and path.

9. Close the Send File dialog box.

10. Enter ~! and the following message appears:

You have 10 sec to start XMODEM download of binary file

11. Select Transfer > Send using Hyperterminal software.
