1. Have another look at the list you made of what you already new about Islam before viewing the program. What are
some new facts you have learnt from watching this program?
Islam began in the Middle East
The most sacred and important text for Muslims is the Koran.
The Koran is usually recited in Arabic.
Muslims are required to pray 5 times a day
Muslims go to pray at the Mosque

2. Research two famous people who are Muslims. Write a summary of the life and beliefs of each person (1 page per
person).
Muhammad Ali was Muslim, and he was a professional American boxer. He was also an entertainer, poet and
philanthropist and he is widely regarded as one of the most significant sports figures of the 20 th century.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is the Emir of Qatar. He is the fourth son of the previous Emir, Hamad bin
Khalifa. He has been the ruler of Qatar since 2013 when his father abdicated the throne.

3. Islam has several important prophets. Conduct research to find out who some other important prophets are for
Muslims. Write a short summary on at least two of these prophets (1 paragraph per prophet).

4. The Mosque is a significant place for Muslims. Conduct some further research and write a report on Mosques,
covering the following information:

a) When do Muslims usually attend the Mosque?

b) What do Muslims do at a Mosque?

They gather for prayers, to study and to celebrate festivals like Ramadan.

c) What do Muslims wear when they attend the Mosque?

Wear modest and lose-fitting clothes. Muslim women wear a headscarf as well

d) Draw a diagram / picture of what a typical Mosque looks like on the inside. Indicate any special
places/objects that are usually found in a Mosque. Explain the significance of these special places/ objects in
the Mosque.
