TOPIC: Our Changing Earth

“The only constant in life is change, and our Earth is a living testament to this eternal truth,
as it evolves and transforms through the ages.”

The Earth undergoes various changes over time, shaped by natural processes and human
activities. Some of the key changes through which the Earth changes include natural disasters,
plate tectonics, weathering and erosion, climate change, soil erosion, glaciation etc.

Below is the choice-board, you can pick any one topic for your project.

1. Do you know that the Barren Island Volcano is the only active volcano in India? Research
about this volcano of India including its history, geology, biodiversity, demographics and
tourist attractions.

2. (a) Read the ‘Earthquake – A case study’ given in the form of headlines that appeared in
the newspapers after the Bhuj earthquake. Arrange the events in the right sequence of
their happening.
(b) Imagine if a quake suddenly shook in the middle of the school day, where would you go
for safety? Think and prepare a preparedness report on it.

3. Work of Rivers – Do you know that the running water in the river too erodes the
landscape.
Refer to page no. 15 of your geography book and write about the features the rivers make
in detail with pictures.

4. Glaciation - Glaciers are “rivers of ice” which too erode the landscape by bulldozing soil
and stones to expose the solid rock below.
Research on how glaciation leads to erosion and form new features, write about the
features they form. Refer to the chapter in your geography book for more details.
