This is the Malaysian flag. It is called the ‘Jalur Gemilang’. It has fourteen stripes. This is to show that
Malaysia has fourteen states. The stripes are red and white. Red symbolises courage and white symbolises
purity of Malaysians.There is a crescent moon on the flag. It is yellow. It symbolises Islam as the official
religion. There is also a yellow star. It has fourteen points on it. The rectangle shape behind the star and
the crescent moon is blue. It represents harmony and unity of different races which are the Malay,
Chinese, Indian and ethnics of Sabah and Sarawak.
