Activities:
Activity: Exploring ICT Evolution Through Timeline Creation
Objective: To engage participants in creating a visual timeline that showcases the
different periods of ICT development, highlighting key milestones and
technological advancements.
Materials Needed:
 Large poster paper or a digital drawing tool
 Markers, colored pencils, or digital drawing tools
 Printed or written descriptions of each ICT development period (optional)
 Sticky notes (optional)
Instructions:
1. Introduction: Begin by introducing the concept of ICT (Information and
Communication Technology) development and explaining that ICT has
evolved over different periods, each marked by significant advancements.
2. Period Descriptions (Optional): Provide participants with printed or
written descriptions of each ICT development period. This information can
serve as a reference as they create their timeline.
3. Creating the Timeline:
 Divide the participants into small groups or work individually,
depending on the group size.
 Distribute the poster paper or open a digital drawing tool for each
group or individual.
 Instruct participants to create a horizontal timeline across the paper
or digital canvas.
4. Labeling and Illustrating:
 Ask participants to label each period of ICT development on the
timeline.
 Encourage them to illustrate key technological advancements,
devices, or concepts associated with each period.
 Participants can use markers, colored pencils, or digital drawing
tools to add visual elements.
5. Discussion and Presentation:
 Once the timelines are complete, have each group or individual
present their timeline to the rest of the participants.
 As they present, encourage participants to explain the key
developments and milestones they included in each period.
 Use this time for discussions and questions about the different
periods and their significance.
6. Comparisons and Reflections:
 After all the timelines have been presented, guide a discussion on
the common themes, trends, and shifts in technology throughout the
ICT evolution.
 Encourage participants to reflect on how technological
advancements have influenced various aspects of society,
communication, and information processing.
7. Interactive Element (Optional):
 Provide sticky notes and markers for participants to jot down
questions, observations, or interesting facts they've learned from
other groups' presentations.
 They can stick these notes near the relevant periods on the different
timelines.
8. Display and Review:
 Display the completed timelines in a common area for participants
to see and discuss.
 Use this opportunity to reinforce key concepts and takeaways from
the activity.
Benefits:
 This activity encourages active participation and visual representation of
information.
 Participants gain a better understanding of the chronological progression of
ICT development.
 Discussions allow participants to analyze how technology has evolved and
its impact on society.
Note: Adapt the activity based on the age group, available technology, and
preferences of the participants. If using digital tools, consider creating a
collaborative online platform for participants to work on the timelines together.
