III. RATIONALE

This event is being proposed as per requirement of the Bachelor of Science in Hotel
and Restaurant Management students. This is to apply the principles and knowledge of the
students that has been learned from their subject Elective 1 Events Management which aims
to equip students in conceptualizing, planning, managing, and evaluating events. The event is
entitled, “ KIDS KITCHEN SUPERSTAR 2017” with a theme, “Preparing the young
generation of Balagunan to be competitive in the fields of culinary.”
This event is a catalyst for the young generation of Balagunan to express their skills
in preparing and presenting the food and at the same time, to promote the very own product
that Balagunan could offer—Tinapa.
Moreover, this event is a great opportunity for the youth to be exposed in the fields of
culinary.
Lastly, once this event will be approved and realized, this would be the very ever
citywide cooking competition for kids in the history of Balagunan.
IV. EVENT OBJECTIVES:

Specifically, this event aims to achieve the following objectives:

 To expose the kids (elementary students) in the field culinary arts
 To promote the Balagunan and its product
 To inspire participation of the hidden new talents and creativity that will
represent the passion and artistry of the youth
 To continually develop, apply, and expose the knowledge of the BSHRM
students in their respective subject areas, fields and profession in the
future
 And to market and boost up the continuous growth of the population of the
BSHRM program in our school, Siocon Zamboanga del Norte Jose Rizal
Memorial State University.f

V. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK:

On the part of the participants, the basis of choosing elementary students to be

part of the competition is according to Sigmund Freud in his study on stages of child
development where he stressed the importance of childhood events and experiences. This
theory is backed up with Jean Piaget when he concluded that children can be thought of
as "little scientists" who actively construct their knowledge and understanding of the
world.
On the other hand, Ms. Salvador in her book “Events Management”, concluded
that the event industry is still young in the Philippines and every stakeholder should take
part in expanding and nurturing this industry as it is envisioned to be one of the economic
remedy in the future considering the Filipinos are very excellent in whichever field they
venture into.
The birth of this proposal based on the theories and principles discussed in Ms.
Salvador’s published book.
