CHAPTER 1 (APPLICATION)

Instruction: Relate the following questions to real-life situations and write your answers on the space
provided.

1. If you were given the chance to inculcate the ideals of patriotism and nationalism in people,
what strategies would you adopt or use?

“Time is changing boys, so should we”, a quotation from the movie Spiderman:
Homecoming, which I really think is very ideal in this situation. So my answer to this is another
question, what is something that would really grab the attention of the people today? Easily
that would be something subjective. However, in my opinion, YouTubers, Tiktokers, and all
those LEGIT influencers are something that most people can’t ignore. They post all these
contents that are very entertaining for the viewers, right? But what if their contents had the
same vibe and had a mix of patriotism? Imagine a funny vlog made by CongTV with the intent of
correcting what Filipinos do to harm our country. That would be really something. These has
been done and attempted and I really think that through the proper use of the social media,
patriotism and nationalism can be inculcated.

2. If you were a soldier required to render service to the victims of flash flood, would you rescue
your family members in the same area first or assist the other victims and just let the other
rescuers aid your family instead?

I am human so I will see to it that my family comes first BUT I will have to do it the right
way, not just suddenly running to where my family lives and ignore commands. Specifically what
I would do ask a very sincere request that I would be assigned to where my family lives. I will see
to it that I will be assigned there and really convince my superiors even if I have to use the “you
have families right?” card. I am sure that in these types of services each one of us will be
deployed to a specific area to I would request to be deployed there. So when we do our
rendered service, I will be rescuing my family first, the right way.

CHAPTER 1 (REFLECTION)

Instructions: Write your reflection on the space provided.

1. “The state shall promote a just and dynamic social order that will ensure the prosperity and
independence of the nation.” In what ways can the country’s development be promoted?

I will have a very simple answer, through unity. As simple as it may sound, it is the
hardest thing to accomplish within our country, at least for me. If only we had unity, we really
wouldn’t have these problems the country are currently facing right not. So unity for me will be
my answer for this question. The trust we build around each other and the trust we protect
would really be a nice way to start and develop our country the right way.

2. What is the vital role of the youth in nation-building?

Basically, it is to see and understand where our country is headed within the current
rule of our elders. Then ask ourselves, what would we do about it? Is there something we need
to change? What are the things that we could improve? What is it that we do next?

CHAPTER 2 (APPLICATION)

Instructions: Relate the following questions to real-life situations and write your answers on the space
below.

1. What public awareness campaigns or programs are needed to resolve the issues and problems
in your community?

I am honestly not aware of other issues in our community or place, other than the
scandals of our mayor or other parties involved. I guess maybe our place is generally peaceful?
Either that or I am just very ignorant. I have heard problems about the vaccination too, so
campaigns against scandals (?) and the vaccination being kept from us and being horded by the
officials are needed.

2. If you were given the chance to organize students to participate in a three-year strategic
planning for a service learning program, how would you lead your team?

3 years is a long time so of course as a leader the first thing I would promote is trust and
camaraderie. Then when we understand what the capabilities of each of our members are, I
would then promote a complimentary type of working together as a team. So as a leader I will
try and understand how each member of our team can help another team member’s weakness.
That for me builds a solid team foundation thus inevitably, I know it will lead to a solid strategic
plan developed.

CHAPTER 2 (REFLECTION)

Instructions: Write your reflection on the space provided.

1. What real-life experience have you gained after a particular community engagement?

Before, when I was in junior high, I used to attend our barangay sports fest which our
father encouraged, no I mean forced me to attend. Of course back then I didn’t like it because I
was an outcast I had no friends in our barangay, unlike my brother. I often heard remarks about
how my brother, even though we come from the same background, had no look of ‘disgust’ or
look down on them just because they were in an unfortunate situation. Okay confession time,
yup that was true before I even termed them as dirty (don’t judge me please I was younger then
HAHAHA). But I endured all those difficult times (by the way I joined for 5 years straight and it
was the first 2 years that was hard) grew as a person, learned to be part of the ‘team’. Not only
that I even joined my friends in our barangay when they applied for the youth parishioners that
help at church activities and at times help when election time comes. It all turned to a worthy
and fun experience.

2. In what ways have your experiences significantly developed your cognitive learning?

Well one main thing was how I perceived our community or specifically our barangay.
Before I hardly wanted to be part of its activities because I thought of it as something that is
useless and boring. As I was forced and forced to participate, I slowly changed my views and
understood what those activities really brought me – how to be a person.

CHAPTER 3 (APPLICATION)

Instructions: Relate the following questions to real-life situations and write your answers on the space
provided.

1. If you were given a chance to design your own company immersion program, what activities
would you propose?

I would propose an immersion program that focuses on helping students ‘study’ or deal
with their school works, imagining that I had my very own company that focuses on education.
This would not be about how important studying is, but about helping students find their most
comfortable and practical way of studying. Studying is a very vital part in learning, however I
recently pondered on how studying is not really something that is talked about. Most of us have
an understanding that studying is to read, read and read until it is retained in our memory long
enough for the information to be used whether it be in the exams or for their jobs. I generally
think of this current understanding of what studying is as a case where a “doctor prescribes the
same medication to all his patients”. We are all different and that’s a fact, maybe reading and
reading and reading works for others but for some it is very difficult. If I could find multiple
‘medication’ for this problem this will be taught in my immersion program and help students
find or create their best way to study.

2. How would you relate your classroom experience to your community immersion as an NSTP-
CWTS2 student?

I would relate them as something that helps us grow as a person. My classroom

experience and my community immersion helped me acquire something more than what is
offered, that’s why before I thought of these two as something that was forced upon me, it
became something that I was proud of and I volunteered to continue and go with it.

CHAPTER 3 (REFLECTION)

Instructions: Write your reflection on the space provided.

1. What did you learn from your recent immersion in the community?

My recent immersion involved in the hospital. When I was in senior high, we were asked
which department in the hospital you would like to have your immersion so my first thoughts
were to go to the nursing department so I could see and maybe help in operations, but since
one of my friend was the only one in our class that chose pharmacy I decided to go with him. At
first I was jealous of my others classmates because they got to go in pairs and accompanied
nurses in the hospital and observed firsthand what they do in the hospital while my friend and I
were stuck in the pharmacy writing down ALL the medicines there as our first activity. But as the
immersion went on, I learned how valuable each department in the hospital was and I stopped
thinking about what my other classmates were doing in the other departments and focused on
the things that I could learn in the pharmacy. Our activities in the department became more fun
and enjoying and the two of us boasted about it to our other friends, especially the fact that
only our department would give snacks.

2. If you were to re-design the community development plan, what would you propose?

I’m not sure what re-design the community development plan really means here.
Maybe it is about re-designing a specific community development plan or re-designing the
current community development plans we have in our community. But either way I would want
to re-design how the volunteer clean up drive here in our barangay. Specifically on how they
would recruit their members. I have seen like three or two people wearing their shirt and clean
places which I think is very inspirational but I also experienced how they recruit their members.
They just bluntly give out their poster and ask us to join them. Maybe that’s why they have little
members, I really don’t know. But I’m certain that if maybe they put in more effort in their
recruitment process many more people would be more willing to help.

CHAPTER 4 (REFLECTION)

Instructions: Write your reflection on the space provided

1. The aesthetic and moral values of a community consist of the guiding and sometimes
paradoxical ideas that its members hold, e.g. how they know what is good from bad, beautiful
and ugly, and right from wrong, as well as the justifications necessary in explaining their actions.
What other aesthetic values can you think of?

Other aesthetic values that I could think of include appreciating the work and efforts of
artists in their art and connecting with their art works.

2. Why is family considered the smallest unit of society?

Simply because family works like a mini society. The values and foundations that a
society hopes to create are present in what a family should be. And it works like how a cell is to
our body – a society is composed of ‘families’.
