The Best Summer

“Are we ever going to go?” asked David . David Baker was an eleven year old boy who was
from Queens. “YES! How many times do I need to tell you that?” David’s mom said furiously.
“I don’t know. You tell me. You said that we’ll go to Hawaii for four years now but we still
haven’t gone.” “DAVID! THIS IS NOT HOW YOU TALK TO YOU MOTHER! YOU’RE
GROUNDED, GO TO YOUR ROOM!” After the scolding David received, he started crying
and complaining, “YOU’RE THE WORST MOM EVER!” Things weren’t going the best for the
young boy. His summer vacation just started and he gets a scolding. Not the best start to
summer.

A week goes by and nothing has happened. His family seems to be staying home this
summer like all the other summers. “David, me and your mother have some really exciting
news for you which I’m sure that you'll like.” said Mr. Baker to David excitedly. “We’re going
on holiday!” “WHAT! Where?” David’s heart started beating faster and faster. “You guess,”
“IS IT HAWAII?” “I don’t know. Maybe or maybe not. We’re not telling you.” said Mr. Baker to
David. “Ok…” Three weeks later and they still haven’t gone. David’s patience was running
out. He really, really wanted to go wherever they were going to go. “You know what, I’m
going to ask them with all the guts I got, when will we go? Why is it so nerve racking asking
your parents something?” David murmured as he approached his parents. “Mom and dad,
when will we go wherever we’re going to go?” “We’re not going to tell you, it’s a surprise.”
“Really mom? Common, just tell me and pretend like it never happened.” “Sorry, but it
wouldn’t be a surprise if we tell you alot, would it?” “Fine. See David, that wasn’t that hard,
was it?” David murmurs to himself as he walks away. “I guess it is a surprise after all.”

“OK, I’M LOSING MY PATIENCE! WHEN ARE WE GOING? IT’S BEEN ONE MONTH! MO-”
“Hey son, wassup. I think you should start packing your suitcase.” “So we are going. When
dad, just tell me now. It’s time.” “Ok fine. We’re going Tuesday next week.” “That’s in 5 days.
I’m so excited!” Days seemed to be going slower for David. “Just one more day and we’re off
to vacation. I’m so excited!” David had never been on a flight before or on vacation. This is
going to be his first time. He goes to bed eight hours later after all the jumping and running.
“OH MY GOD! THIS IS THE DAY!” shouted out David as he woke up. “Will you be quiet will
ya? Stop shouting in the morning David!” “Sorry mom. Just seven hours until we go” Replied
David. David goes to his friends’ houses to say goodbye. “Hey Shawn. Today I’m going on
holiday so you probably won’t see me for some time.” said David. “Oh, hi David. You’re
finally going on holiday huh. Well, I’ll miss you buddy. I hope you have a safe journey.”
“Thanks Shawn. See ya soon.” David now goes to his bestie’s house. “Yo Ryan.” “Hi David.
Why’re you here?” “I just wanted to say that I’m going on holiday for the first time in my life.
That too in a plane.” Said David to Ryan while jumping. “Oh really? Where to then?” “Well
the thing is I don’t know where we’re going. It’s a surprise.” “Ok. I hope you have a nice and
safe journey David! Goodbye!” “Buh-Bye!” David took thirty minutes to talk to them and thirty
minutes to go back home.

“ONLY SIX HOURS LEFT!” shouted out David as he was running back home. “David!” “Yes
mom? What happened?” “Is everything packed up hon’? We’re leaving soon.” “I’m
checking… Yep, everything’s packed up.” said David as his mom walked into his room. “Hey
mom.” “Yes David? What’s the matter?” “Why’d you plan a holiday for me?” asked David to
his mom. “David, you know how many times I’ve promised you that we’ll go on holiday
someday. Most of the time I couldn’t keep the promise. But this time, I made sure that I did.
Therefore we also bought you a suitcase last year.” “Thank you so much mom. Now I won’t
be confused on the plane why we are going on holiday. Anyways, we’re leaving in six hours
right?” asked David to his mom. “No, our flight’s in six hours. We’re leaving in one hour.”
“WHAT! YAY!” shouted out David with a lot of excitement. “Yes hon’, but now eat something
first. Eat an apple.” “Ok mom.” About fifty minutes later the taxi arrived. “David, time to go.
Bring yourself and your suitcase here.” Shouted out Mr. Baker. “Ok dad.” David ran all the
way to the taxi. That’s the fastest he’s ever run. As he put his suitcase into the taxi and sat in
one of the back seats he asked his dad, “Where are we going on holiday dad?” “I guess we
should tell now. First we’re going to the airport and then Texas.” “What? We’re going on
holiday in Texas?” asked David to his dad, very confused. “No. Our second flight is from
Texas.” “To where?” Mr. Baker whispers to David where they’re going. “OH MY GOSH!
REALLY DAD, YAY!” And this is where you, the reader, need to find out where they go. Is it
Hawaii, Spain, India, China?
