Committee: Disarmament and International Security Committee

Country: United States of America

Agenda: Combating terrorism in Middle East and controlling illegal small arms
proliferation

The Middle Eastern region has been and extremely conflicted and sensitive region due to
being the origin of different terrorist groups. The existing crises in the region has made the
region a perfect place for the terrorists to spread their influence. Moreover, the recent
activities of Iran are also concerning and pose a huge threat to the peace and stability within
the middle eastern region. USA being the most successful country in combating terrorism has
always ensured security from the terrorist. USA is not going to allow countries like Iran and
Russia to fund and supply weapons to the terrorists which would escalate the situation.
Tougher measures would be taken against those trying to do so. USA will no longer be
keeping its forces fighting unwinnable war, rather USA under Biden’s administration is going
to negotiate with the conflicted parties and come to a sustainable consensus. USA has already
started the process by sending its envoys to the conflicted regions like Yemen.

USA believes we should bring focus to the nuclear activities of Iran and how Iran is
constantly supplying weapons. USA is also looking forward to talk about to the warring
parties in Yemen and how the steps taken by USA (taking the military back and sending US
envoy in the region) is going to positively affect the parties to trust us and create more scope
for negotiations. The Syrian situation is also to be brought on the table as the tensions are
escalating within the northern area after the Iranian attacks on US military force. The Arab-
Israeli conflict is also to be discussed since USA believes Biden’s administration would be
able to gain trust within the region and help them come to a fruitful solution.

USA has successfully handled numerous middle eastern issues. USA is planning to
implement the following series of actions for successful resolution:

1. Getting Iran on the table to start negotiation to make Iran join the JCPOA under US
leadership
2. Making Israel and Palestinians sit for negotiation for their demands on Two State Plan
to help them come to a consensus under US leadership
3. Immediate cutoff of the funding that are being provided to the terrorists
4. Starting de-escalation in the conflicted areas so that there is more room for diplomacy
