-Who did this and why

“The hijackers were Islamic terrorists from Saudi Arabia and several other Arab nati ons.
Reportedly fi nanced by the al Qaeda terrorist organizati on of Saudi fugiti ve  Osama bin
Laden , they were allegedly acti ng in retaliati on for America’s support of  Israel , its
involvement in the Persian Gulf War  and its conti nued military presence in the Middle East.”

“Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the September 11th att acks, remained at large
unti l May 2, 2011, when he was fi nally tracked down and  killed by U.S. forces  at a hideout in
Abbott abad, Pakistan.”

“Their aim has been to overthrow governments in the Middle East, and elsewhere in the Muslim world,
which do not strictly enforce a religiously sanctioned political and social order. Attacks against the
United States were intended to reduce American support for many of these governments; U.S. support
was viewed by al-Qaeda as a major obstacle to creating a global order under Islamic authority.”

Qaeda is an organization who was known for making terrorist attacks all over the world, behind all this
was Osama bin Laden, the master head. The hijackers were trained to fly an airplane in the United
States to later complete their plan. Bin Laden did this because he wanted to overthrow governments in
the middle east and sine United States was a support to this government, he planned an attack towards
them. He was captured in 2011 after hiding for almost 10 years.

-What happened afterwards

“In the wake of security fears raised by 9/11 and the mailing of lett ers
containing anthrax  that killed two and infected 17, The Homeland Security Act of 2002
created the Department of Homeland Security . It was signed into law by President George
W. Bush  on November 25, 2002. Today, the Department of Homeland Security is a cabinet
responsible for preventi ng terror att acks, border security, immigrati ons and customs and
disaster relief and preventi on.”

“For the fi rst anniversary of the att acks in New York City in 2002, two bright columns of light
were shot up into the sky from where the Twin Towers once stood. The “Tribute in Light”
then became an annual installati on run by the Municipal Art Society of New York. On clear
nights, the beams are visible from over 60 miles away.”

Aft er 9/11 airport security increased a lot and now there is a fountain memorial standing in
the world trade center for all the victi ms that lost their lives on that day.
