Black Ark Corsairs*

In the Dark Elves unending war against the High Elves, they rely heavily on their naval forces.    Their
navies are strong, with shipelves and marines, but their greatest sea-warriors are the Black Ark Corsairs.    These are
the highly skilled warriors that crew the Dark Elves incredible Black Arks, their sorcerous floating fortresses.    They
have one of the most graceful and deadly fighting styles.    As the Black Ark nears its target, the Corsairs fire a
constant stream of bolts from their repeating crossbows.    The bolts play havoc amongst their lightly armed
maritime opponents, killing, or pinning the enemy crew to the decks.
When the Black Ark closes, the Corsairs leap and swing across to the deck of the ship.    Daggers are
thrown at enemies, and they strike out at their foes with razor sharp blades.    Using their great sea-cloaks, called
Dragon Cloaks, they can entrap a foe or their weapon, or easily parry aside a blow as they leap away.
They are undoubtedly the most deadly of naval troops, as they leap about the blood washed deck of a
burning ship, a flurry of cloak parries and fatal sword jabs.

City Guard
The Dark Elves live in a heightened sense of hatred and fear, afraid of not only the things outside the city
walls, but their enemies within.    The Dark Elf cities are dangerous places with rival noble families butchering each
other in the streets, the unwary fall victim to murder and other violent crimes, while outside runaway slaves and the
servants of the Chaos gods greedily eye the cities and plotting their destruction.
To defend against the mayhem inside and beyond the city walls, the Dark Lord employs numerous    guards
to defend the city.    These troops are known as the City Guard, and are the specially trained forces of the Dark
Lords.    These men are better trained and organized than the soldiers employed and raised by the individual noble
families.    All are trained extensively in the use of spear and crossbow to defend the city walls.    Few foes have ever
survived the withering crossbow fire of the city walls, and those emerging from the deadly rain are kept at a distance
by the skillful use of a spear.    When the armies of the Dark Lord go to war, often the core of the army is composed
of these versatile troops, but more often than not, these troops spend ever moment enduring the deadly tide of
violence that form the undercurrent of Dark Elf society.

City Guard Officer*

The City Guard Officer is not only a military officer, but acts as a magistrate as well.    In many civic cases
the City Guard Officer can act as the judge in many petty crime cases, and in cases of guilt (which is the verdict in
nearly all cases!) may punish the offender, often branding or a lashing, or may recommend the accused to the
Ministrum Implimentae, the harsh legal courts of the Dark Elves.
Due to their power, City Guards are often bribed and manipulated by the nobles to eliminate their rival's
allies.    A patron will often give tips to a City Guard Officer as to the location of a fugitive or a mysterious
smuggling operation operated clandestinely by their rivals.    Often Officers are taking bribes from multiple sides,
and often Officers controlled by different factions often plot against each other.    It is common that Officers owned
by different factions work within the same district, and open warfare can and has broken out with the City Guard
taking to arms against each other.
More often than not, an ambitious Officer oversteps the line, and makes too many enemies, and simply
disappears or is discovered tortured and dead, dumped in a cesspit.    Often a Guard Officer is betrayed by one of his
men who covets his command and the wealth and power that it brings.

Dark Elf General*

The Dark Elf Generals are cunning and unscrupulous, having risen through the ranks after seeing all their
rivals die in battle, assassinations, or "accidents".    There is an incredible degree of rivalry and paranoia amongst all
the generals, as there is constant maneuvering to see who can win the most favor and avoid the pitfalls of leadership.
The General must contend with enemies amongst their equals in the military, their subordinates, nobles, and secret
factions.    Assassins, poison, political compromise and back stabbing, secret meeting, malicious rumors, instigated
slave revolts, sabotage within their command, and false accusations are just some of the obstacles that a Dark Elf
General must overcome to maintain his position.

Doomdrake
Nearly all the sons of nobles are sent to receive their military training through the Doomdrakes.    The
Doomdrakes are the elite heavy cavalry of the Dark Elves, heavily armed and armored, riding the fearful Cold Ones.
When the sons of the nobles are inducted into the Doomdrakes, they are often haughty and proud, and find
themselves assigned to the same unit as their sworn enemies.    It is to be expected that the rivalries so common flare
out into murderous treachery, but nothing could be further from the truth.    Upon induction, the vain nobles are
humiliated, tormented, and beaten by their officers and the Helldrakes.    The recruits are put through hell, their
training a crucible to boil their rivalry out of them and turn them into the most cruel and bitter of Dark Elf warriors.
They set aside their petty issues, too concerned with their own survival.
By the time the Doomdrakes have finished their training and first enter battle, they recognize that they are,
for a time, all united by the trial, and have a camaraderie instilled by their ordeal and espirit de corps, knowing that
they are among the elite.    They look forward to battle, and even more to becoming Helldrakes, so that they too can
torment the pretentious young nobles so full of hubris and so empty of accomplishment or merit.    After time, many
leave and return to their families, and easily return to their machiavellian court life, and become the most
disciplined, patient, and ruthless of adversaries.    It is common belief that for a noble to survive, he must attain the
lessons that only the Doomdrakes and the Helldrakes can teach.

Doomsteed/Dark One Rider

The Doomsteeds are the light cavalry of the Dark Elf armies.    They often consist of the volunteers from
the rural countryside.    The ride the swift Dark Steeds, and are experts at hit and run tactics.    They cunningly ride
forward, drawing their opponents out in a counter charge, and then spin about, unleash their deadly crossbow fire,
and spur off before their opponents can reach them.    They harry their foes endlessly, weakening the enemy.
When not screening for the Dark Elf armies, they often ride out, led by Dark Elf scouts, and patrol for
marauders or hunt down escaped slaves.    They ride out and may not return for weeks, living and fighting in the
field.

Doomsteed Officer*
The Doomsteed Officer is a rugged officer, and one who must be incredibly self-reliant and disciplined.
The Doomsteed Officer is often alone out on patrol with his troop, far from the assistance of others.    Often danger
comes in the form of an ambush by Chaos or escaped slaves, but most often from his own soldiers.    An unpopular
Officer is likely to be the only casualty in a "ambush", or suffer a fatal fall from an "accident" at the edge of a cliff,
or simply fall victim to a "stray" crossbow bolt.    As such, the Doomsteed Officer must either earn the respect of his
troopers, or better yet, earn the fear of his troopers.

An Executioners of Har Ganeth is the last sight of nearly all the wretched slaves of Har Ganeth.    They are
the most hated by the High Elves, for it was the Executioners of Har Ganeth that ritually executed the tortured and
broken captives of the High Elf attack on Har Ganeth.    These Dark Elves drag their struggling victims up to an altar
of Khaine where their heads are then lopped off and mounted on the pikes at the Square of Dreadful Masks or their
skulls are sent to form part of the Throneroom of Grinning Skulls in Naggarond.    In combat, these fell servants of
Khaine are famous for their gruesome skill of cleaving a foe's head clear from their shoulder in one strike.

Helldrake*
Many Doomdrakes fail to survive the training and later the battles.    Those that do survive often go on to
become Helldrakes, the best of the Dark Elf army.    They are masters of their steeds and combat.    Before every
battle they not only offer to Khaine the souls of those that they kill, but they offer their own souls to Khaine.    They
hold symbolic funerals for themselves, considering themselves already dead.    This makes them fearless in combat,
and a handful of Helldrakes will charge the largest and the most powerful of their opponents.    The frenzied Cold
Ones tear into the flesh of their opponents as the Helldrake cuts a bloody swath though the enemy singing a fierce
funereal dirge for themselves!    Few can stand the onslaught of these terrifying warriors.    After the battle those that
survive, praise Khaine, perform a "ritual of resurrection" on themselves, drinking the blood of the enemies, and pray
that they find death in the next battle!    After the ritual they may return to society, but still consider themselves the
living dead.

Dark Elf Rangers

Because of their bloody conflicts with those sneaky little high elves, and incursions from the Chaos Wastes,
Ranger types are a necessity.

Dark Elf Basic Ranger Careers

01-15 Bounty Hunter-    Bounty Hunters are famed hunters who are hired by Dark Elf lords to hunt down their
escaped slaves.    Among the most cold-blooded and ruthless, who see their prey, well...um...just that, prey...
(add SW Repeating Crossbow, and Trappings: Repeating Crossbow).

76-90 Whelp Keepers-Responsible for maintaining the Dark Elf menagerie of vicious animals and beasts.
91-00 Player's Choice-Dark One Riders (Doomrider), Outriders, or Dispatch Riders.

Dark Elf Scout*

The Dark Elf Scouts are amongst the most feared of all Dark Elf troops.    Nobody can guess where or when
they will strike.    Many High Elves have been killed just outside the safety of their cities.    The Scouts are hardy and
durable, capable of surviving the rugged wilderness that covers all of Naggarond.    Some travel about, north of the
watchtowers, watching for wandering Chaos bands.    A few are responsible for scouting out the labyrinthine caverns
beneath the Black Spine Mountains.    It was groups of Dark Elf Scouts who had discovered the caverns and
grottoes, and found the path through.    It is in these benighted Underworld Sea that is the greatest challenge for these
Dark Elf Scouts with its dangerous and unseen threats.
The Dark Elf Scouts are themselves a force to be reckoned with.    Not merely content with scouting, they
have been known to sneak into enemy camps at night, killing sleeping enemies, and mounting their heads along
paths the next morning to terrify the enemy.

Dark Elf Shadows are skilled warriors, who rather than fighting in ranks and formations, strike from
shadows and the under dark eaves of trees.    A High Elf patrol investigating a burned-out farmhouse may suddenly
be leaped soundlessly upon from the rafters by Shadows.    High Elf patrols and caravans, are often harried by units
of Shadows, who strike without warning from ambush.    Less skilled than Dark Elf Scouts, they are more numerous
and fulfill more substantial battle roles than merely scouts, but rather as stealthy assault troops.

Dark Elf Rogues

Dark Elf roguish sorts are of extreme importance.    Dark Elf lords are always in subtle conflicts of power,
and use servants as tools.    Many of these are sneaky disreputable sorts..    Other rogues are Dark Elves who live in
the seedy side of town, and despite severe punishments, pursue crime.

Dark Elf Rogue Basic Careers

01-10 Bawd- An expert on the seedy parts of Dark Elf towns.    They often escort pleasure seeking Dark Elf noble
on incursions through the bad parts of town.
11-15 Beggar- Not common, they have a tendency to be killed or tormented by their social betters, or dragged off
for foul rituals and sacrifices...
16-25 Entertainer- Dark Elves have not lost all their art, is has merely become shaped into nightmare images of
themselves.    The "art" that these Entertainers create would put followers of Slaanesh to shame...A
sickening blend of debauchery, depravity, and insanity.
26-35 Footpad- They tend to feed like parasites off those in the same social strata.    To attack a social better,
would be disastrous...
36-45 Jailer- a prolific profession.    All the prisoners captured in wars are brought back where they are kept for
heinous rituals.    In the towers of Har Ganeth, Jailers are especially common.
46-55 Pedlar- The wretched poor that try to sell what scraps they can scavenge
56-65 Ruin Raiders- Many ancient ruins and sites esist across Naggarond.    These are specialists who are sent in
to divulge the secrets of those locations.    A dangerous profession.
66-80 Slaver- Dark Elf Slaver, see below.
81-85 Smuggler- these are the crews of ships that smuggle dark goods outside of Old World ports at late hours.
They often bring back slaves in exchange, or other things required from the Old World.
86-00 Thief

Dark Elf Slaver

Slavery is a horrible institution, but under the Dark Elves, slavery is just the start of a short and miserable
existence.    Dark Elf slavers not only take control of defeated Dark Elves, but also seek out slaves, working with
Black Arks, sweeping down on human and High Elf villages, snatching up screaming victims.    After their initial
capture, the slave can look forward to a short period of excruciating and degrading torture followed by an extended
ritual sacrificing.    Dark Elf Slavers can become the most wealthy of Dark Elves, but easily the most maligned as
well, even amongst Dark Elves, since their cruelty offends even Dark Elf "sensibilities"!

Dark Elf Slave Master*

Dark Elf Slave Masters are important individuals in Dark Elf society.    These elves are responsible for not
only selling and acquiring slaves, but also keeping them obedient and submissive.    The methods that Slave
Masters use to break the spirits of their slaves is draconian at best.    It is in this profession that one will see
and experience the depths of Dark Elven cruelty.    Dark Elves fear a slave revolt, and this in conjunction
with their sadistic nature leads to horrendous conditions.    When a slave revolt does happen, it is no wonder
that the slaves' first act of vengeance is to tear the Slave Master to pieces, with their hands and teeth if
necessary!    Knowing this though, merely keeps the Slave Master fearful and makes his acts even harsher.

Ruin Raider
The Ruin Raider is a fairly unique career amongst the Dark Elves.    When the Dark Elves had to flee
Ulthuan, they left behind many artifacts buried with their elders, artifacts of power that are also family heirlooms
and proof of their legitimacy.    Dark Elves often send Ruin Raiders over to break into these forgotten family graves.
In other places, Dark Elf sorcerers send Ruin Raiders into ruins where great artifacts are believed to lie.    Many of
these sites are found in Naggarond, amongst the pre-Elven ruins that only the trained eye can discover.    Ruin
Raiders are experts at getting into the tightest of places and recovering the buried artifacts.    They wear very little
clothing, and travel very light, as they are often required to squeeze through the smallest of openings.    Ruin Raiders
always work in groups of two to four in case assistance is necessary.

Minister Implimentus

Minister Implimentus*
The officials responsible for the administering and interpreting the Witch King's laws are the Ministerum
Implimentae.    The law of the Witch King has been passed on by formal and informal edicts, proclamations,
resolutions, and memorandum for the last five thousand years (give or take a few hundred) and this has led to a
incomprehensible morass of contradictory and outdated arbitrary laws administered at whim by the Witch King.
The Minister Implimentae dive into this task of interpretation and administration with relish.    They do not pretend
to learn it all, they simply focus on their preferred laws that will allow them to mete out the greatest degree of pain
and agony in the most horrible of fashions.    A law can be found to support or condemn any action, and anyone
found before a Minister Implimentus is likely going to experience an extended period of excruciating pain and
torture, followed by an even longer and more painful demise.
The Minister Implimentae routinely hands out the most extreme judgements on the poor for the most
innocent of crimes.    The poor are not even allowed a trial, their often involuntary appearance before the Minister
Implimentus is admissible proof of guilt.    Only the Nobles are allowed a trial, and all too often discrete payments
are made to the Minister and any evidence of wrongdoing discarded and destroyed.
The Minister Implimentus, after sentencing the unfortunate, often take responsibility for torture, and
admissions of innocence are altered by "trial of duress", where the accused is subjected to weeks of torture until they
are dead, or admit guilt they admit their guilt and then often tortured again until dead!
