Vitruvian Man, answer the questions below. (5 points each) THREE to
FIVE SENTENCES ONLY.

1. What do you think does the artwork The Vitruvian Man mean to demonstrate?

Leonardo Da Vinci was a true genius for creating great art pieces. Additionally, he
was known as an active painter, engineer, sculptor as well as architect. Consequently,
one of his best contributions during the Renaissance was his artwork The Vitruvian Man
which demonstrates the combination of mathematics, science, and art during the said
period. It also portrays the great interest of Leonardo in proportionality. In overall, it
depicts the beauty and evenness of a human frame.

2. Is the Vitruvian Man by Da Vinci truly a commendable piece of art? Explain

your answer.

For me, The Vitruvian Man by Da Vinci is indeed a commendable piece of art.
Why? Simply because Da Vinci has been able to showcase the beautiful combination of
math, science, and art in one frame. Thus, his art also has unique and exemplary features.
Its deep meaning will be instilled in everyone's mind and will never be forgotten.
Moreover, his idea and dedication to the art itself are already praiseworthy.

3. Does puzzle and mystery in an artwork add interest in the viewers? Clarify your
claim.

Yes, I believe the puzzle and mystery of the artwork add interest to the viewers.
As we all know that the crowd or the audience loves to seek and explore things that have
deeper and confusing representation. They want to feed their curiosity and know the
whole story behind everything. And this painting is the exact example of perplex and
mystery in the artistic world that even an uninterested person will wonder and search to
find the true meaning of the artwork.

4. What personal insights have you learned from Da Vinci’s The Vitruvian Man?
How can these be applied to your being a learner of Art Appreciation?

Based on Da Vinci's The Vitruvian Man, I've learned that Da Vinci wants to show
us everything that is connected to nature and the world itself. Especially the way that Da
Vinci merges mathematics, science, and art through human form. His artwork embodies
the spirit of the past that piques our interest and makes us appreciate more the art. As a
learner of Art appreciation, I can apply these insights by enriching my comprehension of
art and generating new ideas that can aid me to see why art matters.

1. Art is universal and timeless.

I've reflected that art is universal as all artistic creations, regardless of their
configuration holds the power to delve into anyone in an art world. It has the prospect to
make everyone understand what the artist is trying to envision and convey to every each
of us. It is timeless as its beauty and meaning don't fade and change ever since it was
created. Despite the passage of time, as long as we continue to desire and experience
art, its value will never be forgotten. And art can be repeatedly passed and enjoyed from
generation to generation.

2.“Man is the measure of all things.” – Protagoras

I believed this remark of Protagoras means that humans hold a great value. In
other words, every individual has the power to rule and live the world. Humans are
responsible for their actions and their consequences. They can do whatever pleases
them as long as they know what is right and wrong on that subject matter. Therefore, for
me, if humans have forgotten their value, the world will be in complete chaos, and
conflicts.
