INTRODUCTION
According to French, (2015) sleep and academic achievement tend to be studied in isolation.
The effects of sleep loss and
sleepiness on productivity in the workforce have received some attention; however, very few
studies have addressed the disadvantages associated with lack of sleep for students.
In a systematic review and meta-analysis, the authors found that short sleep duration was
associated with an increased risk of obesity in both children and adults. The review also
highlighted the potential link between short sleep duration and the development of metabolic
disorders (Watson et al. 2015).
The National Sleep Foundation provides guidelines for the recommended sleep durations
across different age groups. They suggest that adults 18-64 years old should aim for 7-9 hours of
sleep per night, while older adults 65 years and older may require slightly less sleep, around 7-8
hours. (Hirshkowitz et al., 2015)
III. METHODOLOGY
A. Research Design
The researcher used quantitative research design and non-probability sampling in conducting
this mini research.
B. Participants
Our respondents are selected students from Grade 10 Cassiopeia.
C. Data Gathering
The information was gathered though an informal interview face to face. The survey was
conducted during free time inside the OMA campus with permission of our teacher.
D. Statistical Treatment
Mode (Ungrouped Data)
Survey Questions:
1. How many hours do you sleep in a day?
4-5 hours
6-7 hours
More than 8 hours
To sum it up the study conducted among the selected students from Grade 10 Cassiopeia is
to help to identify their sleeping hours. Based on the results, the higher percentage among the
hours of the students’ spent on their sleeping is 6-7 hours and the most common factor that
affects their sleeping hours is their school activities. Furthermore, it is recommended that every
student has a proper sleep time to avoid any kind of illness and prevent anxiety.
