INTRODUCTION

A. Background of the Study

For most adults, at least seven hours of sleep each night is needed for proper cognitive and
behavioural function.
Overnight sleep duration varies widely across the lifespan and shows an inverse relationship
with age. For example, babies initially sleep as much as 16 to 18 hours per day, while older
adults aged 60 and above tend to sleep for shorter periods at night.
The National Sleep Foundation recommends that adults ages 18-64 get seven or more hours
of sleep per night, while adults ages 65 or older need seven to eight hours of sleep per night. To a
study in 2023 43.2% of adults get seven or fewer hours of sleep each night. If you often have
trouble sleeping or often still feel tired after sleeping, talk with your doctor.

B. Statement of the Problem

This mini research will help the researcher determine the hour's spent in sleeping of the
students in Grade 10 Cassiopeia. Specifically, it will answer the following questions:

1. What are the most hours does students spent on sleeping?

2. What are the most common factors that affects students sleeping?

C. Significance of the Study

This study aims to identify students in the selected Grade 10 Cassiopeia who may need
support and intervention based on their hours spent in sleeping. By doing so it will determine
whether the students are facing any challenges related to their Hours spent in sleeping well-
being.

II. LITERATURE REVIEW

According to French, (2015) sleep and academic achievement tend to be studied in isolation.
The effects of sleep loss and
sleepiness on productivity in the workforce have received some attention; however, very few
studies have addressed the disadvantages associated with lack of sleep for students.
In a systematic review and meta-analysis, the authors found that short sleep duration was
associated with an increased risk of obesity in both children and adults. The review also
highlighted the potential link between short sleep duration and the development of metabolic
disorders (Watson et al. 2015).
The National Sleep Foundation provides guidelines for the recommended sleep durations
across different age groups. They suggest that adults 18-64 years old should aim for 7-9 hours of
sleep per night, while older adults 65 years and older may require slightly less sleep, around 7-8
hours. (Hirshkowitz et al., 2015)

III. METHODOLOGY

A. Research Design
The researcher used quantitative research design and non-probability sampling in conducting
this mini research.
B. Participants
Our respondents are selected students from Grade 10 Cassiopeia.

C. Data Gathering
The information was gathered though an informal interview face to face. The survey was
conducted during free time inside the OMA campus with permission of our teacher.

D. Statistical Treatment
Mode (Ungrouped Data)

Survey Questions:
1. How many hours do you sleep in a day?
 4-5 hours
 6-7 hours
 More than 8 hours

2. What is the common factor that affects your sleeping hours?

 School Activities
 Stress
 Health condition
 Other: Specify

IV. RESULTS AND FINDINGS

Hours of sleep everyday:

Based on the data gathered,most
of the respondents answered that they get
6-7 hours of sleep everyday. It topped the
survey with 50%. Meanwhile, 4-5 hours
follows the rate with an average of 40%.
On the other hand more than 8 hours got
the percentage of 10%.

Factors that affect sleeping hours:

Based on the data gathered, most of
the respondents answered school
activities as the greatest factors that affect
their sleeping hours. It topped the survey
with 90% . Meanwhile, stress follows the
rate with an average of 10%. On the other
hand, none of the respondents picked
health condition and specify their
common factors that affect their sleeping
hours
V. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

To sum it up the study conducted among the selected students from Grade 10 Cassiopeia is
to help to identify their sleeping hours. Based on the results, the higher percentage among the
hours of the students’ spent on their sleeping is 6-7 hours and the most common factor that
affects their sleeping hours is their school activities. Furthermore, it is recommended that every
student has a proper sleep time to avoid any kind of illness and prevent anxiety.
