5. Self-diagnosis Information and Fault Handling
Electromagnetic flowmeter converter have self-diagnosis function. It can provide correct alarm information by itself for most
general fault except power supply and hardware circuit fault. Fault Information will display in the bottom right of the LCD
screen.

5.1 Fault handling

5.1.1 No display on the screen
a) Check whether the power supply is switched on
b) Check whether the power fuse is intact
c) Check whether the power supply voltage is conform to the requirements
If above information is normal, please contact with manufacturer.

5.1.2 Excitation Alarm

a) Check whether the Excitation line X and Y are open circuit
b) Check whether the Excitation coil resistance is normal, or else it means that converter may
has fault.

5.1.3 Empty Alarm

a) Check if the liquid medium is full of measuring tube
b) Use wire to make signal input terminal A,B and C short circuit. At this moment if ‘Empty
Alarm’ indicate revocation, it means that converter is normal. This fault may caused by low
conductivity of measuring medium or the setup error of empty tube threshold value and empty tube
measuring range.
c) Check whether signal line connection are correct
d) Check whether sensor electrodes are normal

5.1.4 Inaccuracy
a) Check whether the liquid is full of the measuring tube
b) Check whether the signal line connection are normal
c) Check whether the sensor coefficient, zero point is normal or Calibration setting is normal.

6. Detail Setup
Noted: Detail setup is not show in normal measurement mode. Do not suggest to check and change by
end user without professional instruction.

7. Electromagnetic Flowmeter Installation

In order to let you can correct measuring, please be pay attention to the following requirements when
22
choosing the line position.

2.1 The sensor not only installed in the straight pipe, but also can be installation the in level or tilted

pipe, but the required of the center of two electrode attachment on the horizontal state

2.2 the medium in the installation position should be full pipe flow, avoid not full pipe and gas attached to

the electrode.

2.3 For liquid-solid two-phase flow,it better choose the perpendicular installation,it make the liner

material of the sensor attrition uniform, and prolong working life.

2.4 when the flow meter installation position with not full medium, it can raise the end pipeline of the

flowmeter, and make its full tube, forbidden in peak and outlet pipe installation flowmeter

2.5 Modify piping installation method: when the medium velocity out of requires,it should choose a small

caliber flow meter, and should use different caliber taper pipe or modify the sections of pipe, make its same

caliber with sensor, but before and after straight pipe section at least requirement the before straight pipe

section ≥10 DN, after straight pipe section≥5 DN (DN for pipe diameter)

23
2.6 Before and after straight pipe section for the flowmeter ,before pipe section ≥10 DN, after pipe

section≥5 DN

Right Suspending

Dont’ install it at the entrance of pump, install it at the exit of pump

Install exhaust valve at the downstreat of flow meter when drop is more than 5m

Installed at the lowest point when used in open drain pipe

Need 10D of upstreat and 5D of downstreat

Installed at the rising direction

24
Pipe must be full of Medium

Avoid air bladder

Straight Pipe Requirement

Appendix 2 Frequency Output Information
There’re two types of frequency output: active output and passive output. Default is active output.
Active output as below:

Internal External
Imax=2.4mA

24V
10kΩ

F+

F-

Passive ouput as below:

Internal External

Rf
F+
VE

F-

Inner drive max can provide 200mA current.

Thus, require VE / Rf < Imax(200mA)
