Utilization Script

You: Hi, my name is [Your Name]. I'm calling today about my


credit card account.

(They’ll ask you to verify your account and some security


questions)

You: I'm calling to request an increase to my credit limit. I've


been a loyal customer for [number of years/months] and have
consistently made my payments on time. My current limit is
$1000 and I’d like to increase that to $2000.

Always end your sentence with strength. Don’t say, “Can you
remove this?” Say, “I’d like to have this removed.”

(Your credit card provider may ask you to fill out a form online
or another process or they may ask about your current income,
employment status, monthly housing payment, and reasons
for the increase.)

You: I have upcoming purchases (business expenses, wedding


expenses, etc.). Can you approve my request?

CSR: Thank you for providing this information.


(They’ll either approve it there and then or review it and get
back to you)

You: I appreciate your help with this. Can you let me know who I
am speaking to and provide me with a timeline on when I can
expect to hear back?

CSR: We usually process these requests within 7-10 business


days. You will receive a letter in the mail or an email notifying
you of our decision
