What’s New

Directions: Write down at least 5 cleaning tools or materials used in maintaining Front
Office Services tools and equipment.
Note: Please refer to page 23 for the scoring rubrics.

What is It
The front office uses different tools and equipment’s for effective functioning
and efficiency in performing the task to provide quality and best services for the
guest in the hotel. Proper handling and maintenance of the tools and equipment is
important to prolong the life and durability of the tools and equipment to maintain
quality services for the guest. Maintenance is an excellent means of improving the
performance and condition of equipment and facilities. A regular maintenance
includes inspection, testing of tools, measurement, replacement, and adjustment is
carried out in all sectors and workplace. It has a vital role to play in reducing the risk
associated with some workplace hazards and providing safer and healthier working
conditions. An effective maintenance program identified problems long before any
equipment or facility breaks down or deteriorate.
.

Preventive equipment maintenance is key to extending equipment life and

ultimately saving you time and money. While your perception may be that paying for
preventative maintenance is unnecessary spending, the reality is that without it, you
are often left with more expensive repairs.

There are two types of maintenance: routine maintenance is planned and

focuses on preventing future problems, while corrective maintenance is reactive and
happens when equipment goes wrong and needs to be fixed.
