The Weatherford 21-300 riser tong represents a quantum leap in tong
technology because today’s production riser connectors require makeup
torques that exceed the capability of conventional tongs. More importantly,
the makeup procedure calls for continuous rotation throughout the makeup
cycle. The Weatherford 21-300 riser tong is the only tong capable of
producing 300,000 ft-lb (406,746 N•m) of continuous rotational torque in
both makeup and breakout mode. This unsurpassed power is achieved in
a compact size, comparable to a conventional 24-in. casing tong, which
enables rig up of the 21-300 riser tong using conventional procedures without
modifications to the rig.
The tong is capable of fully mechanized remote operation or semimechanized
operation and is compatible with the patented* Weatherford PowerFrame®
and PowerScope® tong-positioning systems.

The Weatherford Defyer DPA is a drillable casing bit designed for drilling
with casing in medium to medium-hard formations. The DPA series is ideal
for high-temperature environments and is rated to 400°F (204°C).
The innovative design of the DPA series includes a selectable blade count
and configurable cutter size to suit the formation type and application. The
nose is made of aluminum, and the blades are made of a special steel alloy.
Polycrystalline‑diamond‑compact (PDC) cutters are optimally mounted on
the face of the tool to maximize drilling efficiency and durability.
Defyer DPA bits can be drilled out with any standard oilfield drill bit.
Depending on its DPA central blade count and PDC cutter size, a Defyer
DPA bit can be drilled out using a PDC drill bit without sacrificing drillout-bit
durability. A range of interchangeable nozzles is available to ensure optimal
hydraulics, bit cleaning, and drilling performance. It is simple to remove the
nozzles and replace them at the drillsite with Weatherford patented drillable
nozzles in either copper or erosion‑resistant ceramic variants.
Applications
• Drilling with casing in medium to medium-hard formations
• Drilling with casing or liner over short sections in hard formations
• Drilling or reaming in conductor or intermediate casing strings
• Extending the hole length by reaming liner or casing to bottom and drilling

The Weatherford Defyer DPC is a premium drillable casing bit designed for
drilling with casing in medium to medium-hard formations that have confined
compressive strengths of up to 15,000 psi (103.4 MPa).
The innovative design of the DPC series includes steel and polycrystalline-
diamond-compact (PDC) blades coated with a thin layer of tungsten carbide
that resists erosion and abrasion during drilling. The PDC blades are optimally
mounted on the face of the tool to maximize drilling efficiency and durability.
The DPC series also includes a pressure-cycled PDC drillable piston. After
total depth is reached, that piston displaces the PDC blades into the annulus.
Defyer DPC bits can be drilled out with any standard oilfield drill bit without
compromising the cutting structure. The erosion-resistant ceramic nozzles
include extension tubes to mitigate erosion damage on the inside of the
aluminum nose. A range of interchangeable, drillable nozzles is available to
ensure optimal hydraulic performance.

Applications
• The DwC system can be used onshore or offshore to drive 9 5/8- to 13
3/8-in. casing to depths of 15,000 ft (4,572 m) and 16- to 24-in. casing to
depths of 5,000 ft (1,524 m).
• With simple modifications, the system can convert to a fishing spear.
• The system can replace elevators and casing fill-up tools to enhance
conventional tubular running operations.
Casing Bits
yet secure connection.
Drillable
• The high-pressure packoff accomodates a wide range of drilling circulation
pressures for optimal Defyer™ hydraulics and more efficient operations.
• Bidirectional wickers securely grip the casing for safer handling. The longer
slips reduce contact stress on the casing and and permit higher torques.
This enables the system to lift and ream longer lengths than conventional
equipment, which improves the ability to reach total depth.
• With simple modifications, the system can be converted to a fishing spear,
which reduces the amount of equipment required on site.
Options
• An optional mud-saver valve prevents drilling mud from draining out of the circulating equipment during connection,
which improves safety and working conditions. It also reduces the effects of the operation on the environment.
Applications
• Liner reaming
• Casing reaming
Features, Advantages, and Benefits
• The combination of a bladed concentric nose and nozzle configuration
optimizes
bit-face volume, creates a void area for effective cuttings removal, and
minimizes the risk of bit-balling.
• The shoulder-gauge PDCs provide a robust cutting structure for reaming
through tight spots and hard ledges. This structure prolongs the reaming
shoe life and increases the rate of penetration.
• Backreaming capability allows for both upward and downward reaming
through tight sections to ensure that casing is free to move when the next
joint of casing is run.
Reaming Shoes
• The near-center blade design reduces drillout material and can lock into
the cement or formation to counteract rotation during drillout.
• The cutting structure from center axis to full tool gauge outer diameter
makes it possible to ream even a completely closed hole.

The Weatherford pull plate guide is used for the safe, controlled breakout
and laydown of tubulars using the OverDrive™ casing-running system and
TorkDrive™ tools. The pull plate guide helps to safely transfer pipe-joint weight
from the TorkDrive gripping element to the single‑joint elevator, which reduces
stress and damage to the tubular threads, bail arms, and single-joint elevator.
The pull plate guide also enhances pipe-handling safety for drilling-floor
personnel by decreasing the risk of damage to the tubular connection threads,
TorkDrive bail arms, or single-joint elevator, which could result in dropped
objects from the derrick.
Applications
• Tubulars from 4-1/2 in. to 20 in.
• Casing with premium connections
Features, Advantages, and Benefits
• The pull plate guide improves control while spinning out and laying down

and connections.
Stabbing Guides
The Weatherford stabbing guide is used to align two joints of drillpipe, casing,
or tubing. Consistent alignment increases the speed of connections and
reduces thread‑related downtime. The stabbing guide also enhances pipe-
handling safety for drilling-floor personnel by decreasing the risk of damage to
the tubular connection threads, bail arms, or single-joint elevator, which could
result in dropped objects from the derrick.
The stabbing guide consists of a stainless-steel collar and a specially
formed polyurethane shell that minimizes metal‑on‑metal shock, which can
cause major damage to box or pin threads or to the seal surface.
Weatherford also offers stabbing-guide shells for pin‑up drillstrings and for
breakout of long and two-stage premium drillpipe connections. These shells
prevent the pin thread from hooking in the box thread during break out. Both
the pin-up and breakout shells will fit the standard stainless-steel bodies.

Circulation Tools
Fill-up and
Applications
• Long casing strings for which manual fill-up methods are inefficient
or impractical
• Operations with tight casing tolerances, where flowback is a concern
• 4 1/2- to 22-in. casing
Features, Advantages, and Benefits
• The tool provides almost instantaneous transition from fill-up mode to
circulation mode. This significantly reduces the risk of stuck casing.
Shroud
optional • Two sealing elements provide complete sealing integrity inside the casing
to prevent blowback, which enhances safety.
• The back-off safety release sub prevents the elevator from locking up if
there is a lack of compression.
• The mud valve is fully open when inserted into pipe, which enables the
same tool configuration to handle fill-up and flowback applications.
• The tool enables automatic flowback control in tight-tolerance casing.
This results in a cleaner, safer work area on the rig floor.
• Tool sizes range from 8 to 20 bbl/min (3,180 L/min), depending on the
application, to provide operational versatility.
• The tool can be configured with two packers to run multiple casing sizes
(tapered strings) for greater efficiency.
