APPROVAL OF MATERIALS
Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the
responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval
of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the
affected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Upon
Fequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering
activity its own laboratory report to the specification (test results,
net nominal values), the material designation and code mumber, and test
specimens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be added
to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance
im meeting the requirements of the specification.
5.1 SIGNIFICANT SURFACES
Unless otherwise specified on the Enginsering Drawing, significant
surfaces are defined as those surfaces of the finished part that :
Are directly visible and/or visible by reflection when the finished
part is assembled in position, and/or
Can be the source of corrosion products directly visible or visible
by reflection.
