106 - 4 BALANCING OF MAlN ROTOR SYSTEM

(USING BALANCING KIT B0105 L1 OR B0105 L2)

WARNING CONSIDERABLE CHANGES IN BALANCE AFTER A FEW FLIGHT HOURS OR

BALANCING PROBLEMS WHlCH CANNOT BE CORRECTED MAY BE AN
INDICATION OF LATENT, AND POSSIBLY SERIOUS, TECHNICAL DEFECTS,
WHlCH CAN POSSIBLY RESULT IN FAILURE OF THE MAIN ROTOR SYSTEM.
IF NO MORE BALANCE WEIGHTS CAN BE INSERTED INTO THE MAlN BOLT
T 0 ELlMlNATE UNBALANCE, THlS MAY ALSO BE AN INDICATION OF A
SERIOUS TECHNICAL DEFECT.
IF IRREGULARITIES OR UNKNOWN PROBLEMS OCCUR DURING
BALANCING, CONSULT THE ECD CUSTOMER SERVICE PRIOR T 0 NEXT
FLIGHT.

NOTE To achieve proper balancing, the bladetrack must be within the specifiedtolerances

in Para 106-3.

3. Balancing on ground

NOTE The following procedure i s a p p l i c a b l e t o both t r a c k i n g k i t s

(B0 195 L 1 and B0 105 L2.)
a. S t a r t engines and s e t r o t o r RPM t o 100% ( r e f e r t o FLM).
b. Functionally test t h e balancer by s e t t i n q t o g g l e switch (5) t o
"Phase" and pressing pushbutton ( 6 ) . The s c a l e reading on i n d i c a t o r
(4) must i n c r e a s e o r decrease by f i v e u n i t s .

NOTE I f t h e phase angle i n d i c a t i o n i s unsteady ( a t readings of

approx. 0 o r 1 0 u n i t s ) , a s t a b i l i z e d i n d i c a t i o n can be
obtained by p r e s s i n g pushbutton ( 6 ) . Subtract 5 u n i t s from
a phase angle reading above 5 u n i t s , and add 5 u n i t s t o a
phase angle reading below 5 u n i t s .
C. Check ground run balance a s follows:

NOTE Figure 106-24 only shows a t r a c k i n g example. For t r a c k i n g

purposes, use a copy of t h e Balance Data Sheet shown i n
f i g . 106-25 t o record and p l o t balance d a t a .

1) Record t h e following assurned values i n t h e appropriate columns of

t h e d a t a s e c t i o n of t h e Balance Data Sheet ( r e f e r t o f i g .
106-24).
a) Line NO. : "GI" (abbreviation f o r "Ist ground run ") .
