How to dress in the US

If you live in a big city like New York, your casual or business clothes should always be clean and
ironed. For business meetings, women and men wear suits, jacket and skirts. While men wear
shiny shoes, women wear appropriate nylon stockings, depending on the season. Men also wear
ties, and women some kind of scarf.

In casual settings, however, both men and women like sports clothing and jeans. Again, they
should fit well and be clean and neat. It is very important not to wear smelly clothes. Many
Americans find body odor quite offensive!!! So even if you use deodorant, make sure your
clothes are ok!

Dressing causally has become a life style for Americans, as they believe it represents freedom -
freedom to show how you see the world, your likes and dislikes. Dressing comfortably is a must!
