“Revolutions are turning points in human history when conditions cause people to rise up and seek a
fundamental change in society”

Key concept: Change

Task Description:

Research on any country, any revolution in that country from 1800 to 1990. Explain with
examples how changes occurred. (include - Triggering incidents, causes and the consequences)

 Formulate a good research question related to the revolution and the statement of inquiry
 Create an action plan for your investigation
 Investigate your research question, keeping all research in your research journal
 Present your findings with examples in newspaper format, which must include: (either 1 or 2)
1. Writing an article to the newspaper, responding to your research question
2. A Palmlet or booklet explaining about the revolution
 Use myriad resources as this requires both primary and secondary sources to get good
levels.
 Collect information from various websites including Britannica Launch Pack. (Research
– Use the Britannica Encyclopedia and other authentic sources of information.)
 Word limit 1000 to 1200.
Here is an Example of a recent revolutionary movement: Black lives matter (George Floyd)
The death of George Floyd in the US has led to some of the biggest protests against racial inequality in years,
and many young people are leading this movement. The death of this young man triggered towards the
revolutionary movement - Black Live Matter Movement. There is a revolutionary change in the minds and
lives of the people. In a special programme from BBC My World we look at the history of police brutality
against African Americans and how this has led to so many deaths. There is a record-breaking ‘Justice for
George Floyd’ petition, as well as the young people who signed it, about what justice means to them. How
their protests achieved – from laws changed to statues toppled - and how much has changed already. If you

Step 2: Formulate clear and an appropriate Research question
Step 3: Research (research your subject thoroughly) step by step with the help of websites and
text book
Investigating a revolution by formulating a research plan and collecting relevant information.
Communicating your ideas clearly in a proper newspaper format, with a proper bibliography.
Thinking critically about the conditions that caused revolution.
