JOURNAL NO. 6: Take Home Exam

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) plays a vital role in the Philippine

democratic process, ensuring that elections are free, fair, and transparent. As a Marian
student working as an on-the-job trainee, I have the chance to see directly how the
commission carries out its purpose. During my experiences, I received great insights into
the electoral process and learned about the issues and obligations that come with
monitoring elections in the Philippines.

Since the beginning of our OJT, we have been dealing with these main
responsibilities inside the office: Record Management, Concerns on Voter Registration,
Assistance with the Issuance of Voter Certification, Assistance with every voter information,
and making sure that all of the records are double checked, and technology support. For the
longest duration, record management is what we do best now. It is because the office wants
to ensure that all voters will have the chance to vote in the upcoming elections without
queries on their voter records. In the same line, we also attend to the clients who go to the
office for their concerns such as mistakes in the spelling, wrong addresses, mixed-up names
on their records, and the like. Also, we have met a lot of people who ask for Voter
Certification with different intentions of getting it. One who wants to go abroad, one for the
requirement in their job application, one who uses them as identification for relief claiming,
and so forth. Our trainers always remind us to double-check which is why, we never miss a
paper to check—all in chronological order. My favorite task would be technological support.
I was able to learn tech-driven tasks in my previous work during the pandemic and I have
shared this with my trainers when they asked us about ourselves in our first day, that is
why whenever they ask for something that concerns the internet or the computer, I reach
out a hand to help.

These tasks allowed me to become more teachable in the field. The tasks me even
determined to serve the people. Understanding how to interact with them made me think a
lot about my future career, and my heart is full that I want to serve them someday with my
acquired skills from the people who taught me. In the office, one thing that they always
emphasize to us is our initiative to help them, and we always try to deliver that key
performance indicator as much as we can because the office is always busy. For me, I always
lend my hand to the technical aspects of the tasks in the office, especially when it involves
software.

With all of the possibilities I've had since returning to our home planet, I feel that
actively participating in environmental care is critical. I've learned that even simple
activities, like using reusable items and properly disposing of garbage, may have a big
influence on the environment. In addition, I conserve energy by turning off lights and
devices when they are not in use, and I urge others to do the same. Moreover, I utilize
eco-friendly items, such as reusable tumblers and biodegradable materials, to assist reduce
the environmental effect of garbage. I believe that by taking these steps, I can promote
environmental stewardship inside the commission and inspire others to do the same.

Dear God,

As we embark on our on-the-job training, we pray that you bless us with the wisdom and
strength to uphold the integrity of creation. Help us to be mindful of our actions and their
impact on the environment around us. May we always remember to help people, serve with
kindness, and preserve the beauty and diversity of the world you have created.

May we be unified in our efforts to foster care for people and the sustainability of our
efforts in the balance of society as we collaborate with our colleagues. May we be
encouraged to search out novel ideas that support a healthy balance between
socioeconomic growth and the preservation of life and land.

Guide us, O Lord, to be faithful stewards of your creation, and to always act with wisdom
and compassion towards the environment. May our actions be a reflection of your love and
grace, and may they bring about positive change in the world.
