ESSAY – UNREGISTERED VOTER

In the Philippine context, citizens who are below 18 years old are not yet allowed to cast

their votes for national elections. In accordance to the Philippine Constitution, underage youth

may not be able to vote in the general election. On the other hand, there are still plenty of ways

on which they can voice out their opinions and participate on a political system, and it is already

been proven. Since, it is a democratic country, everyone shall be entitled and shall be granted a

freedom of speech. As an underage youth, I may not be part of the millions of Filipinos who can

decide on electing an official, I will maximize my full effort in participating to community

works. I will take part in volunteering on communities helping the marginalized. I will be active

on several campaigns raising awareness on gender sensitivity, environmental conservation, and

literacy.

Correspondingly, as a youth, I can ignite the fire to social awareness. I can protect the

democracy of my country by being the first one responsible in my own deeds. Additionally, by

being responsible also to correct my fellowmen to what is right, therefore leading them into more

progressive consequences. I will not be the spreader of false information, rather I will be the one

responsible to verify them, in this case, everyone will be well-informed. In these ways, I can

contribute in helping and protecting the democracy of the nation.

Fourth Quarter Summative Test (Week 2)

 Of all the undemocratic practices in the Philippines, I would like to give emphasis to

political dynasties. This topic is very relevant and currently happening all over the country.

Political dynasty refers to the situation wherein members of the same family are occupying

elected positions either in sequence for the same position, or simultaneously across different

positions. In the Philippines, political dynasties are prevalent in areas with more severe poverty.

From the ancestors down to their offspring, owns a seat in the government. Political dynasties

lead to corruption. People who are in power, are thirsty of money. Where are these money

coming from? It is tax of the Filipino people who feed their big pockets.

With all my knowledge in politics, I would like to make a valid suggestion. Every family

must only allow two (2) members to run for a position in government. Nothing more. In this

way, political dynasties of big families could possibly be eradicated and corruption may be

reduced. Therefore, leading to a just and democratic practices.

Fourth Quarter Summative Test (Week 3)

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is primarily a significant sector that

improves communication and strengthen the integration of telecommunications and computers.

During the present, in which technology has gone its way to provide convenience for humans,

ICT impacts the planet in terms of building connections all throughout the globe. Moreover, ICT

improves the lives of people in terms of accessibility, data, and information which are readily

available on the tip of the fingers today. On one click, everything is presented in front of you.

ICT builds spaces for innovative educational resources and it enables new methods of learning
to cope up with the progressing technology. Through ICT, students can access free information

available online for their academic studies.

On health care system, ICT provides the access to virtual health system through

software, databases, and developed applications, making it accessible to everyone even at home.

Also, social relationships are being linked with the aid of ICT. Through online streaming

platforms, ICT connects more people who are miles away. Also, it assists on building

interpersonal relationships providing an emotional outlet most especially in trying times.

Fourth Quarter Summative Test (Week 4)

Research. This will be my focal platform if I were to run for a local position.

Incorporating ICT in research can transform ideas into reality which could help to ease the lives

of the people. Most especially in the Philippines, Filipinos are smart but the funds are

insufficient to support their ideas. Applications of ICT can be of great help to research as it

magnifies to create prototype out of the proposals.

I strongly believe that if we could only adapt technology and use it responsibly, we can

delegate task and see improvements immediately. Although, I am fully aware that most Filipinos

will not be easily be convinced with the underlying effects of technology, I will be the engine to

make things happen. We can create products based on the needs of people. For example, it is

possible to produce a device that can translate words into voice for those people who have

unclear vision, only by taking a photo of the subject. See, research together with ICT can impact

the lives of people addressing the critical concerns. This is one of the things I want to address in

my candidacy.
ESSAY- SCIENCES

Discuss the differences and similarities of Pure Social Sciences and Applied Social Sciences

Pure Social Sciences and Applied Social Sciences are both under the field of sciences.

They may have different characteristic and application but both of them uses observations in the

data gathering in research. On the other note, applied science deals more with experimental data,

these are data procured from the conduct of an experiment. Social science, on the contrary,

works more with experiential data, which is obtained from real-life experiences that are gathered

and compiled through observation, interviews, surveys.

Whereas, in the application of sciences, applied sciences are described to contain high

level of preciseness and accuracy which is proven to yield reliable results on scientific

observations. While pure social sciences are described to be based on experiences which may be

subjective depending on the person’s condition and preferences.

Question: As a Senior High School Student, why do we need to participate on different

community projects and programs?

As a responsible citizen and as a senior high school student, my participation on

community works is very much expected on my age. I am part of the youth; I am involved in an

era where my generation is young and strong. We are the driving force of change and hope.

Since, we are the ones who are exposed to knowledge and technology, we can rely our

capabilities to the community, we can hand over our skills by helping our community.
Participating in community service activities helps us, students, to enhance our social skills and

allows us to learn from the experience of others. All of these are helpful in building our future

with strong foundation. More importantly, involvement in community works plays a vital role on

a person’s character development which later on leads onto a holistic individual.

ESSAY – PERSUASION

By definition, persuasion refers to the process of convincing others to rely on a particular

philosophy using the influenced of communications from other people. To persuade someone,

one should present credible sources for this may drive reasons for the other party to shift their

perspective. There are factors that may affect the process of persuasion, these are the verbal

threats, physical coercion, one’s physiological states are to name.

On the communication context, persuasion may not always be successful. In order for

people to buy your side, you should assess the needs and interests of your target for them to act

on your great ideas. First, give people a reason to listen to you. Second, show people that you

truly care about them and their needs. Third, give people a reason to trust you. Lastly, present

your ideas in terms of pros and cons that will connect with your audience.

Question: Discuss your position on cellphone use in cars.

Driving is only a privilege. So, be always responsible. On the other note, one of the main

reasons of car accidents is the usage of mobile phone use while driving. This cause is too
common but it is widely considered dangerous due to its potential for causing distracted driving

and crashes. Since it is common, shall we normalize it?

In my perspective using a mobile phone while driving is never acceptable. The driver has

a very large chance of being distracted which later on increases the likelihood of a car accident.

Additionally, people who use their mobile phones in the car can drive erratically, which puts

damage to others. They may fail to give the proper signals, miss road signs, change lanes

abruptly or respond slowly to hazards. Also, drivers who are distracted in roads because of the

use of mobile phones may unconsciously panic when there is a sudden obstacle. This results to

aggressive driving that may result to serious accident.

ESSAY – EXHIBIT

Whenever there is a piece of art, usually the first action to consider is to display it

publicly so that other people will be able to see it. This kind of presentation is referred to as an

exhibition. In the most general sense, it is an organized presentation and display of a selection of

items. To come up into a pleasurable event, the design of the exhibit must be clean, unique, and

elegant.

Furthermore, for me to arrive on a presentable and meaningful exhibit room. First, I

conducted research on relevant inspiration of my exhibit and decide which make the most sense

of my concept. I ended up designing the exhibit with some creative stuffs around it. Then, I

choose to be more eye-catching and professional regards the theme of the room. Considering

these steps led me into a successful and creative exhibition.

Question: Discuss three (3) insights while preparing your portfolio

 To apply, the organization of portfolio I recently concluded has deposited competent

experience for me as a student. I encountered some difficulties while preparing all the materials I

need, and even on the presentation proper I experienced challenges. Nevertheless, (a) I make it a

point to extract all my creative ideas in order to produce a competitive portfolio that showcases

the concept I have in mind.

Also, (b) I experienced difficulty on finding inspiration and references. Although, (c) it

took most of my time and effort, still, it was a successful one. My experience in organizing my

portfolio was an extraordinary one. I consider following some advices that lead me into a

successful portfolio.
