The journey from childhood to adulthood happens over time instead in a short time.

We may
have not been realized of how the experience or success was changing us at the time. My
development as a person and my development of maturity and knowledge have been influenced
by a lot of situations. I was unaware of the change, but looking back, I can see how a sad
situation shaped who I am today.

Every stage of my life is still clearly in my mind as if it were yesterday. I still remember playing
with toys, running with my friends, and riding my bike when I was a kid. I also remember a lot
from my teenage years, when my voice started to change and I started to get teased by all of my
friends.

While I was in high school, remember how bad my family's situation was. My mother and father
didn't spend much time with me on a personal level. My father spent the most of his time
working to make enough money from their limited resources to support us. I was usually asked
to take on the role of my siblings. When I was younger, I thought I didn't have a lot of time to
develop my own personal attitude. Even I can remember helping around the house by doing
chores. Yet, this circumstance did help shape some of my character in a good way. Because of
my responsibilities, I developed a sense of maturity and ability. Yet I was also taught to put the
needs of others over my own.

Now that I am older, I am still doing my responsibility as their child and my responsibility to
myself. I would take care of my parents and work to make them feel better during our difficult
times. I was more responsible and conscious of my choices and actions. I just had one goal in
mind, which was to earn a college degree. My goal in life was to work as a police officer one
day. The fact that I could see how happy my parents were and how hard they were working
inspired me to keep helping them. I didn't want to let them down, I wanted them to be content
and secure in the future.
