I. Introduction

The transformer is an important component of the overall energy conversion process.

Practically all transformers and electric machinery use ferro-magnetic materials for shaping
and directing the magnetic fields which act as the medium for transferring and converting
energy. Permanent-magnet materials are also widely used. Without these materials, practical
implementations of most familiar electromechanical energy conversion devices would not be
possible. The ability to analyze and describe systems containing these materials is essential
for designing and understanding these devices.

II. Purpose

To be able to make a transformer from given core such as E and I core and magnetic
wires given by the instructor. To be able to measure the flux of the magnetic circuit
specifically the transformer.

III. Materials

E-I iron cores (A = 36x32 sq. mm / L = 286 mm) Cambric Tube

Magnetic Wires (size 28) Fish Paper
Electrical Varnish Bobbing
Bolts & Knots
