W: Hey, Kevin! Where are you going?

M: I’m going to take the staff fitness program.
W: Oh, is it the 25-minute lunch break workout that the company is offering?
M: That’s right. I find that exercising at lunch time boosts my energy and helps
me focus on my work.
W: Really? I think it would make me more tired. I usually just want to take a
rest.
M: I did, too. But I actually feel more energized after the lunch break workout.
It even improves my concentration.
W: You mean you have more energy and can focus better when you get back to
your desk?
M: Exactly. It’s been very helpful for me.
W: Okay. Maybe I’ll join. Thanks for the information.
M: My pleasure.

3. 다음을 듣고, 여자가 하는 말의 요지로 가장 적절한 것을 고르시오.

W: Good morning, students. I’m Ms. Thompson, your learning consultant for
today’s workshop. Many of you have expressed concerns that you’re having
difficulty submitting your homework on time. But you know what? Making
a memo is an efficient way to manage your assignments. You can’t only rely
on your memory. You need to make a note about what to do and when to do
it so that you don’t forget. Writing a memo might be annoying at first, but
you’ll get used to it in no time. With a memo, you can organize your
assignments better. Now, we’re going to see some good examples of
students’ memos. Let’s look at the screen.

There are three chairs at the table.
M: You’re right. So we can enjoy reading books together. How about the lamp
standing in the left corner?
W: Cool! It looks much taller than me. Wow, I love the star-patterned rug under
the bookshelf.
M: It’s nice, isn’t it?
W: Yeah, we can also read books sitting on the rug.
M: And look! There’s a heart-shaped cushion on the sofa.
W: It’s so cute. Hmm... Dad, what’s the board under the clock for?
M: That’s for introducing new events at the community center.

W: Sure. Let’s see... Did you reserve the school gym?
M: Yes, I did it yesterday.

W: No, it’s not that. I could easily change my schedule with another person.
M: What is it then? Don’t tell me you have to play soccer.
W: No. Actually, I have to join a science debate competition that day.

16번부터 17번까지는 두 번 들려줍니다.

[16~17] 다음을 듣고, 물음에 답하시오.

W: Hello, students. As you know, sleep is common to all animals, but their sleep
patterns vary in many ways. Today, we’ll learn what makes animals sleep
differently. First, what animals eat can impact their sleep patterns. As grass has
much fewer calories than meat, large grass-eating animals sleep only a few
hours and spend the majority of their time eating. Elephants sleep only three to
four hours a day. Second, temperature affects animals’ sleep patterns. High
temperatures can cause some animals to overheat. Thus, bats sleep during the
day to avoid overheating. Next, another factor is the fear of dangerous
meat-eating animals. For protection against these hunters, sheep generally sleep
closely together. Finally, the living environment. Flamingos live in shallow
waters that contain high amounts of salt. In such a harmful environment,
there’s no place for them to lie down. This is a reason why flamingos sleep
standing up. Now, let’s watch a video clip.
