After watching 09 Video 1, answer the following guide questions:

1. What was the speaker’s project/idea?

The speaker's concept was "Bored and Brilliant (The Lost Art of Spacing Out)," in which mobile phones
were one of the subjects covered. This project is a challenge that urges us to minimize our mobile phone
use and demonstrates the appeal of boredom.

2. How did the speaker come up with the idea?

When she discovered that she never gets bored, she had this idea. Because of this, she examined a host
of concerns, including what might happen to us when we are bored, what can happen to us when we
never become bored, and what might happen if we completely eradicate the feeling of being bored. She
then began speaking with cognitive and neuroscientists and discovered that it is fascinating when a
person gets bored. Naturally, he also looked for a solution to this issue.

3. Was her project informative? List down all the information you learned from her TED talk.

Yes, it is informative. And this is the information and questions I gathered from TED talk.

 How can using a smartphone prevent boredom?

 How is clever phones allow you to connect while engaged in other activities?

4. How frequently do you use your phone? Can you see yourself doing the speaker’s challenge? Why?

My phone is usually with me, even when I'm not doing anything. In the same way that I take my phone
when I get up in the morning and before I go to sleep, it seems like it is a part of my routine. And if I get
the chance to push myself with that concept, I think I can manage it, even if it's a little challenging.

5. What are the possible implications of multitasking? Do we finish more, or do we complete fewer
tasks than focusing on one (1) task at a time?

As a result of your brain's limited capacity to focus on more than one thing at once, multitasking
decreases your efficiency and effectiveness. Your brain can only focus on one job at a time, thus
attempting to multitask will result in failure.

6. According to the search engineer at Google, why is the technology built to trigger social media users
an itchy feeling if they are not with their phones?

It's because utilizing a phone makes one feel more connected. They want our attention and do not want
us to cease feeling linked to one another in order to extract more from us.
