CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2023 NCCA YOUNG HISTORIAN’S PRIZE

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is now accepting
nominations for its 2023 NCCA Young Historian’s Prize pursuant to its mandate to
encourage and support writing of Philippine history from the Filipino perspective. The
NCCA National Committee on Historical Research conceptualized the Young Historian’s
Prize in recognition of the potential of young Filipino scholars based on their single
original work in the field of Philippine history and historiography as it fosters a sense of
national identity, pride, and interest in the country.

The Young Historian’s Prize shall be given to a Filipino citizen between 21-40
years old at the time of submission whose work has met the following criteria:

1. must be of single authorship,


2. original,
3. written in proper academic style,
4. can either be published or publishable, and
5. must have used primary sources that can contribute to the enrichment of
Philippine history and historiography.

Nominations shall be accepted only when the following are submitted and
attached with proper documentation:

1. a duly accomplished nomination form;


2. author’s curriculum vitae;
3. Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-certified birth certificate;
4. notarized sworn statement of authorship;
5. manuscript in a PDF file soft copy in CD or USB flash drive, and three sets of
hard copies, all of which should not bear the author’s name or any reference
to the author; and
6. two endorsement letters from an academic institution, local historical society,
or practicing historian.

Deadline of submission is on March 30, 2023. Nominations received beyond the


announced deadline for submission shall not be considered.
