Oil Wetting Agent

Description:
A wetting agent is a surface-active molecule used to reduce the surface tension of
water. The high surface tension of water is problematic in many applications where
spreading and penetration of water is required. These include for example paints and
other coating formulations, detergents, pesticides, and others. Wetting Agent for oil
base mud,Wetting Agent is mainly made from oil fatty acid and its poly amine
salt.Wetting Agent is a powerful oil wetting agent for oil-base mud. Wetting Agent is
effective in oil-wetting barite and drill solids, and in reducing the adverse effects of
water contamination. Wetting agents serve as critical components to maintaining the
integrity of any invert emulsion drilling fluid. Wetting agents are designed specifically
for invert emulsions (oil or synthetic-based) and oil-wet drill solids as well as
commercial solids, such as barite. If a solid particle is not sufficiently oil-wet, it will
agglomerate and fall out of the drilling fluid, compromising fluid stability. It is a
powerful oil-wetting agent, formulated to incorporate wet or dry solids into the oil
phase of oil based drilling fluids. The product has a significant thinning action where
drilling fluid rheology has been created by drilled clay solids or treated clay
viscosifiers.
Application:
can effectively oil-wet barite and drill solids, so as to incorporate those water-wet or
dry solids into the oil phase of invert emulsion. It also has a marked thinning action in
cases where high mud rheology has been created by drill solids and weighting agents.
Normal treatments range from 0.5~3.0%, depending upon the wetting requirement, It
is primarily a Wetting agent and A Dispersant but Functions as a Secondary
Emulsifier When Weighing Up oil base systems it is used to it is used to Oil wet
Barite when Large Additions are required. It works effectively over a wide
temperature range. Wetting agent is consumed as it coats water-wet solids, requiring
continuous addition as drilling progresses and regular treatment when adding
commercial solids. OBM WET is designed to be used as a wetting agent in
formulating oil based drilling fluids.
