Summary project idea
Manual parcel segregation is a fundamental aspect of efficient logistics
and distribution operations. This process involves categorizing parcels
based on various criteria such as size, weight, destination, or content
type. By implementing effective manual parcel segregation methods,
businesses can enhance accuracy, expedite delivery, and improve
overall workflow efficiency. However, manual parcel segregation can
lead to errors such as misplacement, mislabeling, and incorrect
distribution due to fatigue, distractions, or oversight. This summary
explores innovative approaches to streamline the manual parcel
segregation process, reducing errors and minimizing handling time.
Here we can up with an idea to build a robot who can works
autonomously. A few benefits mention below on how our robot aids the
process of segregation.

1. Save time:-
Robots can work tirelessly and consistently without breaks, enhancing the speed

and efficiency of parcel segregation compared to human labor.

2. High Accuracy:-

Robots equipped with sensors and computer vision technology can accurately

identify, sort, and categorize parcels based on size, shape, and destination.

3. Reduced Human Error:-

Robots eliminate the risk of human errors in parcel sorting, ensuring each parcel is

assigned to the correct distributor or route.

Presenting Robotic Solution

Problem Statement

The process of segregation parcels can be time consuming and cause

errors. Men face difficulties in sorting the parcels especially in

handling large volume efficiently. This leads to delays and mistakes.

Secondly, assigning the right parcels to the right distributors can be a

complex task for manual segregation process. Thirdly. The safety of

works when handling heavy parcels can cause the risk of injuries during

the segregation process.

Mechanism

The smart segregator robot is a helpful parcel segregator used in

harbours which gives updates on the inventory. The robot as 3

conveyor belt mechanisms which is driven by a large motor for each

conveyor belt. The first conveyor belt brings the parcels which are

dropped in the harbours. Each parcel is colour coded to represent

where the delivery hub is situated. The conveyor belt stops when the

ultrasonic sensor senses the parcels. Once it stops the colour sensor

detect the colour code of the parcels and sorting arms pushes the

parcels to the next conveyor belt. The conveyor belt that received the

parcels then carries the parcels upwards to be dropped in the delivery

truck accordingly.

Social Impact & Innovation

Although this robot solves the problem of cutting vegetables and

fruits, there are some improvements that can be made to this robot. In

the future, we will do programming:

 to add a camera to carry out image processing on the conveyor to

get the parcel segregated with more precision like size and

colour. By doing that we don’t need colour code for the parcels.

 to add gsm or wifi module to the segregator so that it can upload

the inventory of data in the cloud.
